The Wondering Eagle was blocked on Twitter by Mark Driscoll’s The Trinity Church in Scottsdale, Arizona. All it took was two hours. This post is a Twitter feed of how it happened. All I asked is when is Driscoll going to preach on oral sex at The Trinity Church like he did at Destiny Church Edinburgh in 2007. Continue reading
At his blog Brent Detwiler writes about the relationship between Al Mohler and C.J. Mahaney and how that came to an end. The expose in the Houston Chronicle about the child sex abuse issue helped bring this issue to light. Continue reading
An old comment that I stumbled upon at SGM Survivors leads to a quick post. Was Sovereign Grace a cult or cultic? Or cult like? It was my conclusion at the time that Sovereign Grace was a cult, and that belief has not softened with the passing of time. Continue reading
How should blogs like SGM Survivors and The Elephant’s Debt be viewed? How do you respond to challenging information that confronts your world view that a ministry or organization is not what you think it is? This post is about such blogs. To discuss this topic I use The Elephant’s Debt to discuss the issues in Harvest Bible Chapel. Plus I also share what it was like to be invited to C.J. Mahaney’s Sovereign Grace Ministries and to read about the alleged criminal activity inside on a blog called SGM Survivors.
At the Facebook page of Redeeming Grace Church College and Career group Vince Hinders posted a disturbing quote. I took a screen shot and used it for discussion today.
Over at Roll to Disbelieve, an atheist blog, they have a good discussion and article about authoritarianism. In light of the authoritarian issues inside Harvest Bible Chapel, Sovereign Grace and the late Mars Hill this article I believe is a good read. It will give a psychological understanding on James MacDonald’s behavior.
At the Baptist News Global there was an op-ed by Mark Wingfield. The article looked at why the evangelical Christian church needs to admit when its wrong. This is a theme I keep bumping up against here. In addition Mark addresses areas where there should be discussion. This article raises some issues that honestly need to be discussed.
