When the EFCA is Tone Deaf to Evangelical Scandals. Why is Ed Stetzer Speaking at EFCA One in Chicago?

The EFCA One conference is being held in Chicago in June of 2019. One of the key speaker/teachers/trainers is Ed Stetzer. Yes that Ed Stetzer who doesn’t know what ethics is. The same Stetzer who accepted gifts from James MacDonald while writing about him for Christianity Today. The same Ed Stetzer that has tried to silence people from the Harvest Bible Chapel scandal. The Wondering Eagle wants to raise the question, why is the EFCA tone deaf to scandals in evangelicalism? Do they care about the Christian faith and the Gospel?  Continue reading

How Should the Evangelical Free Church of America (EFCA) be Viewed? Well it’s Complicated

Someone from the western United States emailed me and asked what are the problems in the EFCA? They are new to the organization and are trying to figure it out. I decided to tackle their question and give an overview of my thoughts about the EFCA from the 10,000 foot level. The EFCA has some great people, churches and leaders. However, it also has serious challenges inside the organization. This post from The Wondering Eagle looks at the EFCA from a broad perspective and offers analysis on the organization.

Crossway Fellowship in Manassas, Virginia Gets a New Senior Pastor, and a Look at the EFCA in the Washington, D.C. Area

Crossway Fellowship in Mansass, Virginia installs Kyle Brenon as the new Senior Pastor. This post over looks the changes in Crossway and wishes Kyle well. At the same time The Wondering Eagle does an overview of the EFCA in the Washington, D.C. area and illustrates that the problems of Neo-Calvinism are deeply entrenched. In conclusion, if you are not a Neo-Calvinist, you are going to be a refugee from the EFCA in the D.C. area. The D.C. area is an indicator of the greater problem of Neo-Calvinism in the EFCA denomination.  Continue reading

After a First Evangelical Free Church members meeting in Wichita, Kansas in January of 2016 questions were asked about the EFCA denomination. On the church blog that particular EFCA church wrote a post about learning about the EFCA. I want to use that post to roll out my goals and hopes in terms of encouraging reform in the EFCA. In this post you will find what I believe needs to be done to make the EFCA stronger and healthier in the course of time.  Continue reading

Acts 29 Bill Riedel’s Redemption Hill in Washington, D.C.; How Healthy is It?

This is an overview of the only Acts 29 outfit in the Eastern District of the Evangelical Free Church of America. This is the history of Redemption Hill, a look at Bill Riedel the Senior Pastor and its ties to Bill Kynes’ Cornerstone an Evangelical Free in Annandale, Virginia. More important is the health of this church especially with Mark Driscoll’s DNA still contaminating the Acts 29 network. With what Mark Driscoll taught about oral sex, or even calling women “penis homes” is that theology alive and represented in Redemption Hill of Washington, D.C.? Continue reading

A Personal Reflection on Fresno Evangelical Free Church; Known Today as The Bridge Fresno

A personal reflection on Fresno Evangelical Free Church, which is today known as The Bridge Fresno. This explores how I got involved and my experiences in this church. Also I explain why if I lived in Fresno today I would not get involved in this church. The EFCA denomination has this one systematic flaw that I believe will eventually lead to the destruction of the denomination. Its autonomous nature is being exploited by Neo-Calvinists.
