Zion Church of Kurten is an EFCA Church in Kurten, Texas. Recently they took down from their website a controversial discipleship program called The Milestone Program. The program used material from Sovereign Grace Ministries to disciple young adults. While grateful that this material was removed this blog hopes that Kurten Senior Pastor Aubrey Rodgers practiced critical thinking skills and discernment and not use material from a ministry known for covering up child sex abuse. An Overview of the Sojourn Network out of Louisville, Kentucky

The Sojourn movement broke away from the Acts 29 movement when Mars Hill Seattle under Mark Driscoll was in the process of implosion. It started out of Sojourn Community Church in Louisville under the leadership of Daniel Montgomery and Mike Cosper. A few years later the Sojourn Network was started and Brian Howard was its first director. The Sojourn Network is deeply influenced by C.J. Mahaney’s Sovereign Grace Ministries (SGM).  Dave Harvey came to Sojourn after his long history with SGM. This is a network that is growing in the United States and due to its roots and influence by SGM, also a network of concern.  Continue reading
