Greg Strand has a message to all those who like to sexually abuse and those who also travel to Thailand for abuse. His message is that you’re welcome to come to the EFCA. We tolerate and welcome sexual abusers with open arms and big smiles! This is the message Greg Strand is sending as he says silent on the Ravi Zacharias situation with the Miller & Martin report. Ravi Zacharias as this blog wrote about had close ties to Trinity who frequently invited and gave the discredited abuser/evangelist a platform often. While Greg Strand is silent on sex abuse he is more fearful of a gay person. This was all communicated when it took just 24 hours for Greg Strand to address The Equality Act at the national EFCA blog. Yet a month has gone by and the Miller & Martin report remains unaddressed. This blog didn’t realize how shallow and fragile the faith of the EFCA’s executive director of theology and credentialing ultimately is. Continue reading
This is a post that looks at the ties that Ravi Zacharias had with the EFCA’s Trinity International University which trains the EFCA and many of its pastors. Will Trinity admit it was wrong to promote Zacharias over the years or will they stay silent? This question is of additional importance as it appears that the Carl F H Henry Center has begun to take down their Ravi Zacharias material. Meanwhile the Rolfing Memorial Library still has Ravi Zacharias material in circulation and has not acted on removing the material of a man who was found by Miller & Martin to have engaged in rape and sexual abuse. Will Trinity take the right steps? If the D.A. Carson approach to the Sovereign Grace Ministry scandal with C.J. Mahaney is any indicator, the answer is no, Trinity will not do the right thing and will continue to ignore the basic teachings of Jesus. Continue reading
This is a post that I have been avoiding for a while. After discussing this with others I have decided to write a post about how this blog has been effective. From the EFCA, to churches in the Washington, D.C. area and in the greater United States this is a look at how has this blog influenced churches and people. This blog is introducing a new description. Its called the #WonderingEagleEffect Continue reading
The EFCA Theology Conference began at Trinity International University this morning. It was preceded by a pre-conference that looked at spiritual abuse. This post is a write up of an annual event inside the EFCA. Continue reading
The leadership of The Gospel Coalition is changing on February 1, 2020. D.A. Carson who has been the President since its founding it appears is stepping down and in his place will be Julius Kim. Kim, who is a second generation Korean will likely bring a more international flair to the The Gospel Coalition. This blog is still hoping that D.A. Carson will admit his error for attacking a sexual assault victim in the Sovereign Grace Ministries scandal through a statement by The Gospel Coalition in 2013. An opportunity to teach humility and right a wrong is being lost. Continue reading
The #MeToo movement has been moving across American culture. Issues related to sexual assault and abuse have been coming out across all professions. From media, to business, to sports the #MeToo movement keeps unfolding. It has also hit the Southern Baptist Convention as well. Today this blog would like to ask how prepared is Trinity Evangelical Divinity School for the #MeToo movement? Based off D.A. Carson from Trinity, who is now a Professor Emeritus, having attacked someone who was raped at 13 in a statement through The Gospel Coalition, this blog doesn’t believe Trinity Evangelical Divinity School is ready.
This is an article that reflects on an older post from Mike Anderson who led The Resurgence at Mars Hill in Seattle. What do you do when religion leads you to places that are dark and to behaviors just as destructive as alcoholism or drug addiction? This also reflects on what I have seen in my own life. Continue reading
On August 26, 2018 this blog made an error about D.A. Carson and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. This post is a follow up explaining what happened and how that error occurred. In addition I also use this mistake to teach the EFCA how to respond to errors that will happen inside the denomination. My hope is that the EFCA will learn from my mistake and become a better organization in time. Continue reading
Someone from the western United States emailed me and asked what are the problems in the EFCA? They are new to the organization and are trying to figure it out. I decided to tackle their question and give an overview of my thoughts about the EFCA from the 10,000 foot level. The EFCA has some great people, churches and leaders. However, it also has serious challenges inside the organization. This post from The Wondering Eagle looks at the EFCA from a broad perspective and offers analysis on the organization.
An open letter to EFCA West District Superintendent Steve Highfill. This post is about Bryan Loritts scheduled to speak at Andrew Smith’s The Bridge Fresno. EFCA West needs to be aware of what occurred in Acts 29 Fellowship Memphis. Bryan Loritts should not be speaking, he needs to go back to Memphis, Tennessee and own his mistakes and role in the alleged cover-up. Continue reading
