Why Wade Mullen Found Peace and Why I Never Will

At Restore Chicago Wade Mullen gave a good talk about spiritual abuse. Wade even shared an abuse situation he walked away from and how a church responded to him and admitted he was correct. In the process they invited him back and spoke to the issue and reversed the abuse that happened. Wade’s case is an exception to the rule and is not the norm. I listened to Wade’s talk again this weekend and draw some comparisons with my own spiritual abuse mess from someone who was in a leadership role of a former Sovereign Grace Ministry church called Redeemer Arlington in the Washington, D.C. area. James MacDonald brought a defamation lawsuit against Mancow Muller recently. This post is an overview of that situation and the history of the previous lawsuit against Julie Roys, The Elephant’s Debt and their wives. This post looks at the take aways of the issues from the latest scandal at Matt Chandler’s The Village Church. Matt Chandler’s The Village is alleged to have mishandled a child sex abuse situation with a pastor on staff who is accused of sexually preying on a minor. There are many lessons to consider from the scandal. That includes the issues of child sex abuse in the Southern Baptist Convention, to problems with church discipline and membership covenants.  Other questions raised include the culture of Acts 29 at ground zero thus spreading through the network to the problems with the celebrity pastor model and how the brand is to be protected is is more important than the safety of a child. An open letter to Greg Strand. This is encouraging the EFCA to address the issue of D.A. Carson attacking a sexual assault victim in support of C.J. Mahaney. Its time for the EFCA to act and do the right thing. After all Al Mohler of the Southern Baptists has recanted and addressed the issue. Why is the EFCA staying silent?
