A Look at Rockpoint Church’s Political Comments on their Church Blog. A Gentle Reminder to the EFCA that they Need to Follow the Johnson Amendment

Senior Pastor Roy Fruits wrote a polarizing blog post that flirted with politics in the pulpit after the 2016 election. This is a look at what the pastor from the EFCA’s Rockpoint Church in Lake Elmo, Minnesota said. This post is a gentle reminder in the current election season that the Johnson Amendment prohibits politics being done from the pulpit. If this blog finds examples of EFCA churches that violate the Johnson Amendment I will report them to some of the atheist organizations I have interacted with.  Continue reading

As the Catholic Sex Abuse Scandal Unfolds in Pennsylvania Let’s Remember the Sex Abuse Scandal in Sovereign Grace Ministries. The Complicity of The Gospel Coalition, and D.A Carson Defending Mahaney by Attacking Someone Who was Raped at 13

Recently the Pennsylvania Supreme Court allowed for the grand jury investigation report into child sex abuse inside the Catholic church to be released. In Pennsylvania the Catholic church is in a crisis. Its important to remember that Neo-Calvinism also deals with child sexual abuse. And the similarities between what took place in the Catholic Church in Pennsylvania and C.J. Mahaney’s Sovereign Grace Ministries are striking.  Continue reading

A Closer Look at Derek Gaubatz the General Counsel for the International Missions Board. Does “Religious Freedom” Mean the Right for the Southern Baptists to Cover Up Sexual Assault?

This is an overview of the General Counsel of the Southern Baptist’s International Missions Board, Derek Gaubatz. Gaubatz played a role in covering up a sexual assault scandal in the IMB by encouraging Anne Marie Miller to let it go. Mark Aderholt, a sexual predator was allowed to go to another church in the SBC and have access to children. This post looks at how Derek Gaubazt acted, especially in light of contacting federal authorities about alleged financial crimes in the Brady Nurse scandal. The question I would like to pose to a veteran attorney of the evangelical culture wars is this. Does “religious freedom” include the right to cover up sexual assault in the SBC?  Continue reading

Writing About an Email Exchange with Anne Marie Miller in December of 2015 When Reviewing Cru’s (Formerly Campus Crusade for Christ) Christmas Conferences.

In an email exchange she discussed being the victim of a sexual assault. Between then and now Anne Marie Miller decided to go forward and make the report against Mark Aderholt. Continue reading

The Concerns that Exist with Redwood Falls Evangelical Free Abuse Reporting Policy

Redwood Falls Evangelical Free is a small EFCA church in Southwestern Minnesota. On their website they published their abuse reporting documents. In their follow up the church makes a decision about reporting abuse to police or the appropriate government agency. The Wondering Eagle believes this is a good environment for child sex abuse cover up to occur in. Today’s post deals not only with the difficult topic of child sex abuse but also domestic abuse and elderly abuse. Today’s post asks the question does the EFCA struggle with child sex abuse?   Continue reading

Mike Pence Speaks to the Southern Baptists in Dallas, While Garrett Kell Expresses His Concern, and For Some Southern Baptists Faith is Not About God, but Instead a Political Party

The Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) had their regular meeting in Dallas, Texas. And in an incredibly embarrassing move the SBC had Mike Pence speak. The controversial Vice President turned the opportunity into a political speech about Donald Trump.  If I were a SBC pastor I would be deeply embarrassed to be affiliated with the SBC. Today’s post looks at how Garrett Kell from Del Ray Baptist here in the D.C. area tried to get Pence canceled. Plus John Fea offered some great analysis on the situation. Finally from my perspective I am arriving at the conclusion that for many evangelicals faith is not about following God, instead its a political party where “faith” is just a means to an end.  Continue reading
