On June 18, 2019 the Evangelical Free Church of America is meeting in Chicago, Illinois for their biennial conference known as EFCA One. At this event, its this blog’s hope that the EFCA will discuss sexual assault and abuse. That it will be spurred to from events in the Southern Baptist Convention to what is playing out in society. There are warnings about sexual abuse inside the EFCA, and this blog has been approached about problems. This post explains how I view the topic and how plan to cover it. Continue reading
A ground breaking report is published by the Houston Chronicle and the San Antonio Express-News. It documents the sex abuse issue inside the Southern Baptist Convention. As the Southern Baptists move forward its clear that the sex abuse issue can not be avoided. Continue reading
Michael Voris is an alt-right Catholic who is targeting the Roman Catholic Church through his organization called Church Militant. This is an overview of a questionable organization out of Michigan that has engaged in trolling, bullying, and more to win the culture wars from the “liberal Catholics.”
Jim Engleman who worked in Harvest Bible Chapel Elgin’s security team wrote an open letter to the Bartholomew family. Its about the Paxton Singer situation and encouraging them to speak to James MacDonald about it.
This post is from a disheartened mother whose son stayed in Paxton Singer’s cabin at Camp Harvest. This is a letter, a call to action and she wants results. The issue of Paxton Singer hit her family and this mother had to sit down with her son and ask if he was abused or being groomed by Paxton Singer. This is a hard topic to deal with but this must be dealt with in the context of the Harvest Bible Chapel scandal. Continue reading
There was a thread on Twitter that discusses the Paxton Singer situation at Harvest Bible Chapel. The point of this post is to allow attenders and those who were involved at Harvest Bible Chapel to discuss Paxton. This blog has heard that Paxton also was a cabin counselor at Camp Harvest. Allegedly Harvest Bible Chapel did not notify those who attended Camp Harvest about the Paxton Singer arrest.
Fairfax Community Church, a mega church in the Washington, D.C. area I would contend follows a business model. This is why the church is deeply troubled and has issues. The fact that Andy Gingrich who worked at Fairfax for 9 years transitioned from one business model to another shows how evangelicalism is a business. But in light of the fact that Andy also coaches people and talks about leadership did Andy Gingrich do the right thing during his tenure and raise the issue of the church employing Eric Nickle, a violent sex offender, with Senior Pastor Rod Stafford? Or did he just go along with take orders and stay silent for years?
This is an article that reflects on an older post from Mike Anderson who led The Resurgence at Mars Hill in Seattle. What do you do when religion leads you to places that are dark and to behaviors just as destructive as alcoholism or drug addiction? This also reflects on what I have seen in my own life. Senior Pastor Roy Fruits wrote a polarizing blog post that flirted with politics in the pulpit after the 2016 election. This is a look at what the pastor from the EFCA’s Rockpoint Church in Lake Elmo, Minnesota said. This post is a gentle reminder in the current election season that the Johnson Amendment prohibits politics being done from the pulpit. If this blog finds examples of EFCA churches that violate the Johnson Amendment I will report them to some of the atheist organizations I have interacted with. Continue reading
Recently the Pennsylvania Supreme Court allowed for the grand jury investigation report into child sex abuse inside the Catholic church to be released. In Pennsylvania the Catholic church is in a crisis. Its important to remember that Neo-Calvinism also deals with child sexual abuse. And the similarities between what took place in the Catholic Church in Pennsylvania and C.J. Mahaney’s Sovereign Grace Ministries are striking. Continue reading
