Recently at Christ Covenant Church in Atlanta, Georgia Jordan Kauflin discussed the issue of modern trends of worship and the issues with them. In the video Jordan Kauflin not talk about worship in the context of spiritual abuse. Its why this video is problematic and flawed and not to be taken seriously. A person who enabled spiritual abuse contributes to the problem when they fail to acknowledge their shortcomings. When they fail to rectify it it contributes to abuse. Jason Dees of Christ Covenant Church Has Tested Positive for COVID-19. Would a Coronavirus Outbreak in a 9 Marks Neo-Calvinist Church Show God’s Sovereignty at Work?

Jason Dees of 9 Marks Christ Covenant in Atlanta, Georgia, has tested positive for the coronavirus. Church is canceled tomorrow and this blog would like to pose a question. Would a COVID-19 pandemic in a Neo-Calvinist church be a sign of God’s sovereignty at work? A Damning Indictment: How J.D. Greear’s Southern Baptists Are Losing an African-American Pastor John Onwuchekwa While Hiring an African-American Pastor Bryan Lorits Who Allegedly Covered Up Sex Crimes. Plus How the Hiring of Loritts Will Tragically Reinforce Racism Against Blacks

Recently the problems inside the Southern Baptist Convention were on full display. As the SBC loses John Onwuchekwa a Neo-Calvinist African-American pastor in July of 2020; shortly beforehand J.D. Greear’s church hired Bryan Loritts in June of 2020. Christ Covenant Church in Atlanta, Georgia Teaches on Worship. Its a Problematic Devotional with Jordan Kauflin Having Enabled Unresolved Spiritual Abuse

The other day Christ Covenant Church in Atlanta, Georgia sent out a devotion on what worship is. It is quite bad and in the context of my spiritual abuse situation from a person that Jordan Kauflin discipled that dragged on unresolved. This devotional misses one of the key teachings of Jesus when it comes to worship.  And as for the Sara Bareilles song, this blog suggests you don’t play the YouTube video when you are at work. While a number of traditional evangelicals who mix faith and Christian nationalism reject face masks its a different situation among the Neo-Calvinists. Over at The Gospel Coalition there have been calls for Christians to wear face masks. In some ways its been open like Brett McCracken’s article, in other’s its through Joe Carter reminding people what the Centers for Disease Control states. Or in the case of Sarah Eekhoff Zylstra its writing about how a number of Neo-Calvinist churches encourage people to wear face masks. In this post this blog wants to thank the Neo-Calvinists for their wisdom and their refusal to let this issue become part of a culture war. Continue reading

A Response to Sam Emadi’s 9 Marks Post (Another Open Letter to a New Christian)

Sam Emadi wrote an article at Crossway that was re-published at 9 Marks that is addressed to a brand new Christian. In response, while employing a slight degree of sarcasm I also write an open letter to a new Christian. The joy that is coming when it comes to evangelicalism. In that sense its time to prepare the youth and those coming onboard for the coming burn out tomorrow.  Continue reading

Russell Moore on Protecting the Elderly in the COVID-19 Pandemic. Reflecting on an Older New York Times Op-Ed in Light of the Growing Coronavirus Situation in Texas

Back in March some of the Christian nationalists were arguing that it was okay to sacrifice the elderly for the sake of the economy. During the COVID-19 pandemic Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick said that it was time for the elderly to be sacrificed. That they should die for the sake of their grandchildren. Against that train of thought Russell Moore of the Southern Baptist’s Ethic’s and Religious Liberty Commission responded in a New York Times op-ed. Today, over three months later the United States is watching a growing disaster take place in Texas with a soaring COVID-19 infection starting to overwhelm the system. This post looks at what Russell Moore argued and reveals how his words have aged well. In contrast the Christian nationalists have not. Continue reading
