Do You Want to Write? I Would like to Build a Diverse Independent Team that Can Write The Wondering Eagle

The Wondering Eagle would like to transition from a one person blog to a team that can write about a number of issues. Those issues include atheism, doubt, Neo-Calvinism, the EFCA, Mark Dever’s Capitol Hill Baptist Church and issues in evangelicalism. I would like to bring on a diverse set of people in time who would have freedom to publish what is on their mind. If you are interested please drop me a note and let’s figure out a way forward.  Continue reading

An Open Letter to Andrew Hoffman (Multiplication Catalyst for ECFA’s Western District on Why Its Time to Admit that the Neo-Calvinist Movement Has Failed…)

An open letter to the Multiplication Catalyst of The Western District. Andrew Hoffman who is involved in The Gospel Coalition of the Bay Area gets a frank letter on why the Neo-Calvinist movement is a failure, and why its run its course. From Mark Driscoll talking about the Biblical basis of blowjobs, to C.J. Mahaney’s SGM scandal and allegations of covering up child sex abuse, to D.A. Carson attacking a rape victim; to my brush with Eric Simmons Redeemer Arlington. The days of The Gospel Coalition and the Neo-Calvinist movement are over. Its time to admit that it has failed and move forward.  Continue reading

Crossway Fellowship in Manassas, Virginia Gets a New Senior Pastor, and a Look at the EFCA in the Washington, D.C. Area

Crossway Fellowship in Mansass, Virginia installs Kyle Brenon as the new Senior Pastor. This post over looks the changes in Crossway and wishes Kyle well. At the same time The Wondering Eagle does an overview of the EFCA in the Washington, D.C. area and illustrates that the problems of Neo-Calvinism are deeply entrenched. In conclusion, if you are not a Neo-Calvinist, you are going to be a refugee from the EFCA in the D.C. area. The D.C. area is an indicator of the greater problem of Neo-Calvinism in the EFCA denomination.  Continue reading

First Free Church in Onalaska, Wisconsin Wants You to Share Your Story: Here is Mine, From Mormonism to a Brush with Jordan Kauflin’s Redeemer Arlington and Sovereign Grace

First Free Church which is led by Shane Holden in Onalaska, Wisconsin has a feature on their webpage. They are asking you to tell your story. I have agreed and that is what this post is about. This is my condensed story which shows my history, my exploration of Mormonism in college, time in Crusade, the Evangelical Free, a Third Wave church outside Milwaukee and the dark season of being unsuccessfully recruited to a Sovereign Grace church plant and the false accusation I endured. Part of my story is learning why rape and sexual assault is a problem in the military from an Air Force officer who drunk the John Piper, and Mark Driscoll Kool-Aid. The story played on into my Mom’s illness which resulted in her death.  Continue reading

An Open Letter to Joe Russell (Pastor of Young Families and Junior High at Riverview Evangelical Free outside San Diego)

An open letter to Joe Russell and his family thanking him for the raw blog that he and his wife wrote. I’ve reflected on it while my Mom’s medical crisis plays out in a hospital in Fresno, California. There is much that I respect in what Joe and his wife Kim wrote. But there is also one point I wanted to tenderly make that I think needs to be clarified. Continue reading

Bill Riedel’s Acts 29 Redemption Hill’s Blocking Party on Twitter Is Learned While I am Helping My Mom with Breakfast

As I am feeding and helping my Mother who is dealing with critical illness in Fresno, California I learn that Bill Riedel’s Redemption Hill in Washington, D.C, blocks The Wondering Eagle on Twitter. This is a quick response to this Acts 29 church’s behavior. Next week or so I want to write Bill Riedel an open letter about my further concerns about this church being inside the Evangelical Free Church of America (EFCA). Continue reading

An Atheist Group in Southeast Texas Takes Care of the Homeless, and in the Process Teaches Why you do not Need God to do Good

An atheist group in South East Texas gave birth to a movement of atheists who help the homeless. In the process they also have shown how you do not need God in order to be good, perform acts of charity or love. The Wondering Eagle which writes about atheism from time to time wants to encourage the South East Texas Atheists to continue to help the homeless and better our species.  Continue reading

How can John Piper be Correct on Donald Trump Being UnQualified for the Presidency, and Yet Believe C.J. Mahaney is Fit to Lead?

On the eve of Donald Trump’s inauguration John Piper writes a penetrating article at Desiring God on how the new President is unqualified to lead. He points out his lack of leadership, his scandalous past that he drags with him into the White House among other issues. Yet there is a problem with John Piper’s article. How can he be spot on about Donald Trump and yet still defend C.J. Mahaney and say he is qualified to lead when he doesn’t met the qualifications of elder? This is going to be a rare time here at The Wondering Eagle where I look at both issues and also state that John Piper has a lot of truth in regards to the 45th President. Continue reading
