For the Valley or For Andrew Smith? Did the Senior Pastor of The Bridge Fresno Leave a Comment on this Blog? It Appears So…

In December this blog wrote about The Bridge Fresno and how this EFCA church violated California shut down requirements in the COVID-19 pandemic. In response it appears Andrew Smith left a comment on this blog. Angry about what I wrote about COVID and past posts about Bryan Loritts seem to have driven the comment. This blog re=posts it and draws attention to it and writes a response.  Continue reading

Tim Jacobs, in the Middle of a Pandemic What is More Important to the EFCA? Is it Money or Human Life?

An EFCA West church violated California’s guidelines on the COVID-19 pandemic. The Bridge Fresno as led by Andrew Smith decided to hold an indoor service despite Fresno County being moved to the Purple tier. It is a poor decision and raises a lot of questions, especially with a COVID outbreak and at least two staff testing positive for the virus. Staff’s health was threatened, the church was exposed to risk possibly even affecting its insurance policy. Plus pastors like Andrew Smith should not be making medical decisions. Leave that to the Centers for Disease Control and trained medical professionals as that is what they are trained to do. Let them do their job, and Andrew Smith needs to learn how to his, because this blog is not impressed by what I have learned. But this issue within a pandemic boils down to one simple question this blog has for the EFCA, and its EFCA West District Superintendent Tim Jacobs. What is more important? Money or human life?  Continue reading

The EFCA’s Bridge Fresno Defies California Health Guidelines About COVID-19. Meanwhile a COVID-19 Infection Breaks Out Among Bridge Fresno Staff

The Bridge Fresno decided to resume indoor services and go against California health guidelines coming from Sacramento. Andrew Smith justified the decision claiming he was concerned about the domestic abuse and mental health issues coming from quarantine. About a week after they did this a COVID-19 infection broke out among some of the staff. This blog looks at the poor decision making made by Andrew Smith. Plus this blog would like to ask Andrew Smith when did he ever care about abuse? After all he gave the pulpit of The Bridge Fresno to Bryan Loritts who was involved in the cover up of voyeurism and child pornography scandal at Acts 29 Fellowship Memphis. But this blog also asks…with a light at the end of the tunnel with vaccines in the pipeline..why expose people to risk?  Continue reading

As California Closes Due to Pandemic Brad Bell of The Well Community Church in The Fresno/Clovis Area Will Still Hold Indoor Services Believing, “Well you’re going to catch COVID-19 eventually anyway…”

California is closing again due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Fresno County has been moved to the purple tier and churches can not meet inside. Despite those guidelines from Sacramento Brad Bell of The Well Community Church in the Fresno/Clovis area has decided to hold indoor services and telling a reporter that we’re all going to get COVID-19 eventually anyway. My Brainwashing and a Personal Reflection on When I was Under the Kool Aid in Campus Crusade for Christ at Fresno State

This past weekend I was cleaning at home and fond something that was a window into my past. It was when I was involved in Campus Crusade for Christ at Fresno State. An article in the local Fresno State newspaper explained the role Wicca played in a person’s life. In response I had to write an evangelical response in a letter to the editor which caused controversy. Someone later on called me out. Today’s post is about my frame of mind when I was under the Kool Aid. And its something that I deeply regret.  Continue reading

Reflecting on the Los Angeles Riots in 1992 and How I Came to Accept White Privilege Exists

This post is a reflection on the Los Angeles riots in 1992 and the Rodney King beating. As a white person my views changed with time and I came to realize how the Rodney King beating was racially unjust. Also with me being the first can we have a discussion on white privilege? From being in evangelical churches to moving and living in different parts of the country. This post is how I came to realize that white privilege exists.  Continue reading

Why You Should Sign a Do Not Resuscitate Order Before You Attend Jim Franklin’s Cornerstone Church in Fresno, California

In Fresno, California Jim Franklin who leads an Assembly of God called Cornerstone has become one of the leaders who plans to defy Governor Gavin Newsom and open on May 31. Claiming he is persecuted this is a pastor making a business decision who doe snot understand science or infectious disease. This is a pastor the in the culture wars who is willing to send members of his congregation to the hospital and beyond just so he can draw a paycheck. Its evangelicalism at its most corrupt in a pandemic. This blog is putting out a call for stories about Jim Franklin’s Cornerstone so this church can be analyzed and dissected.  Continue reading

This Thanksgiving Here is What I am Thankful for Today

Technically this is the second Thanksgiving after the death of my Dad. But in reality it feels like the first. Amidst this season of pain and loss I learned something last night that brought a smile to my face and made me thankful. Its Eric Paul’s haircut. After fighting leukemia at Stanford Medical Center the disease is in remission and he is resuming his life. He posted about getting a haircut yesterday. So I am thankful for that haircut and Eric’s health bouncing back. Its most welcome to hear good news and I am happy for him,  his wife Michelle and his family. Continue reading
