The Wondering Eagle visited The Well Community Church in north Fresno on January 6, 2018. Mike Slayden gave the sermon which was pre-recorded and shown on a screen. This post reviews some of what Mike taught. While The Well pastor preached on Matthew 5:23-24 this blog has come to the conclusion due to personal experience that evangelical Christians don’t believe in repentance and reconciliation. Plus what do you do when a church like The Bridge Fresno make errors and refuses to atone for its mistakes? Finally as Mike Slayden quoted from Ravi Zecharias, is The Well pastor aware of the sexting charges and academic fraud allegations that came out about Ravi Zacharias? Continue reading
At the Baptist News Global there was an op-ed by Mark Wingfield. The article looked at why the evangelical Christian church needs to admit when its wrong. This is a theme I keep bumping up against here. In addition Mark addresses areas where there should be discussion. This article raises some issues that honestly need to be discussed.
This is the final post for The Wondering Eagle for 2018. This article reviews the stories and situations covered in the year of 2018. From Acts 29, to the EFCA to the Sojourn Network, the atheist community and Harvest Bible Chapel. This is a wrap up of all the work this blog accomplished. Plus I discuss what is coming in 2019 as well.
This is an article that reflects on an older post from Mike Anderson who led The Resurgence at Mars Hill in Seattle. What do you do when religion leads you to places that are dark and to behaviors just as destructive as alcoholism or drug addiction? This also reflects on what I have seen in my own life. An employee in Cru (formerly Campus Crusade for Christ) uses Crawford Loritts in a Cru video. This is a post informing Gary Nomura and Cru staff on the dark scandal of voyeurism, child pornography and spiritual abuse at Acts 29 Fellowship Memphis and Downtown Church in Memphis, Tennessee. The Loritts – both Bryan and Crawford were involved in the cover up of Rick Trotter’s voyeurism.
Richard Rieves is back in the pulpit at Downtown Church in Memphis, Tennessee after being away on a sabbatical. Meanwhile this blog would like to know if Downtown Church is experiencing financial hardship? Downtown is pleading for money and I am wondering if the church is hurting from the Rick Trotter scandal. Plus Fellowship Associates, which John Bryson is tied to is planting Immanuel Fellowship in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This is being done with the help of Bryan Lair’s Trinity City Church. This is deeply disturbing especially as I write that many evangelical churches need to be closed. There are many churches where criminal allegations have occurred, and if people cared about the Gospel they would walk away from them and shut them down. Continue reading
On September 16, 2018 another Acts 29 church, that of Immanuel Fellowship will be launched in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Its done in conjunction of Fellowship Associates, which John Bryson of Fellowship Memphis is linked; and also Acts 29/EFCA’s Trinity City Church in Saint Paul, Minnesota. It is this blog’s belief that Trent Senske’s church needs to be aborted before its launch. Is a culture that led to the alleged cover up of child pornography and voyeurism in Fellowship Memphis in Tennessee being duplicated in Minneapolis? That is the issue The Wondering Eagle wrestles with today right before this weekend’s launch of Immanuel Fellowship. Continue reading
