Unless You Experience Spiritual Abuse Then You Won’t Understand How Painful it is

Spiritual abuse is not something you will understand unless you have endured it. My hope is that you can dismiss this post. But those of you who have been through hell will understand what I am writing here today. This is about how spiritual abuse touched my life. From several churches that dealt with issues from child sex abuse to mishandling a sex offender; to an Air Force Officer who tried to get me involved in the last church plant of Sovereign Grace Ministries in the Washington, D.C. area called Redeemer Arlington. Its the story of a false accusation that threatened my life and hurt my family and even popped up in a hospital room in a medical crisis. In my view spiritual abuse is the equivalent of rape.  Continue reading

Does Evangelical Culture Contribute to Pornography? Plus the Torment Accountability has Left in My Life

Does evangelical Christian culture drive people to embrace pornography? Plus looking at the harm that accountability relationships do to people. In my life accountability led to three painful situations. It destroyed one friendship from Campus Crusade in Wisconsin. Helping someone from Sovereign Grace’s Redeemer Arlington with accountability as an agnostic backfired as I faced a false accusation from someone who was frightened about adult pornography. And at Fairfax Community Church I learned how unhealthy churches can potentially use confessed material against people. And this happens while celebrity pastors like Mark Driscoll or C.J. Mahaney are not held accountable. Today’s post at The Wondering Eagle is about a warped aspect in evangelical culture.  Continue reading

“They Don’t Care About You!” A Woman Dealing with Suicidal Thoughts and in a Crisis Allegedly Couldn’t Get Help by Fairfax Community Church

Recently this blog had a conversation with a former member of Fairfax Community Church. She was suicidal and allegedly reached out for help and Rod Stafford’s church ignored her. She went elsewhere for assistance and left disappointed by the direction Fairfax Community Church has gone. In addition to looking at the care ministries at this church we must also remember the Faustian bargain that Rod Stafford, Kathleen Otchy and others took to support the evangelical industrial complex – often at the cost and value of people’s lives and identity.  Continue reading

When Todd Phillips was at McLean Bible, Plus Some Additional Thoughts and Concerns About What David Platt Stated in his June 24, 2018 Sermon

What would have happened at McLean Bible if Todd Phillips stayed? Would the church have been theologically flipped? Plus there are additional concerns about David Platt’s sermon on June 24 that I need to raise. And I have to be honest, in the course of time as I keep finding and dealing with corruption wherever I go in evangelicalism, the truth of the matter is that I will probably pass out of it and be a nothing or an atheist in the course of time.  Continue reading

I am Morpheus. Do you want to Know Truth? Will you Choose the Blue or the Red Pill? Are you Prepared to Know How Deep the Rabbit Hole Goes?

As we start 2018 a scene from the classic movie The Matrix is how the year will be kicked off. If you are looking for truth you will find it here. You have two options before you…the blue pill that will allow you to return to your Pollyanna view of Evangelical Christianity. Or the red pill which will reveal to you how deep the rabbit hole goes and the corruption and issues which exist in Evangelical Christianity. What will you choose? Continue reading

When Evangelical Christians are Silent on Corruption Because They Believe God is Honored; and Why the Church Should Intervene and When Atheists are Validated

Tackling the issue of when Christians are silent on corruption. What happens when Christians choose to look away and not do the right thing. Why the world sees through their behavior. I write about this after watching the shifting polity at McLean Bible here in the Washington, D.C. area. When people are silent on abuse or unethical situations then in time they became enablers. Its hard to speak up yes, I did it both with Redeemer Arlington and Fairfax Community Church. But one must speak up in the end.  Continue reading

As Hurricane Harvey Aims at Houston Jaron Jones of Shine Bible Fellowship Gets It; How Many Evangelical Pastors Fail to Address Situations in their Midst

As Hurricane Harvey is hitting Houston, Texas Jaron Jones of Shine Bible Fellowship in Cypress, Texas encourages and soothes his church by teaching the 91st Psalm about how God is a shelter in the storm. This is an EFCA pastor who gets it, and its my hope that the EFCA would have more Jaron Jones in its network.  Continue reading
