Charismatic Evangelicalism and Trying to Raise People From the Dead. From Olive Heiligenthal of Bethel in California to Wooded Hills in Wisconsin

Charismatic Christians have tried to raise people from the death in their history. Bethel in Redding, California made national news in December of 2019 for trying to resurrect Olive Heiligenthal . Likewise I was part of a charismatic church in Wisconsin that had a pastor who tried to raise someone from the dead. This behavior is incredibly abusive and just disturbing.  Continue reading

Sean Feucht is a controversial Bethel worship personality who has been leading worship protests around the United States. Russell Moore on Protecting the Elderly in the COVID-19 Pandemic. Reflecting on an Older New York Times Op-Ed in Light of the Growing Coronavirus Situation in Texas

Back in March some of the Christian nationalists were arguing that it was okay to sacrifice the elderly for the sake of the economy. During the COVID-19 pandemic Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick said that it was time for the elderly to be sacrificed. That they should die for the sake of their grandchildren. This post looks at what Russell Moore argued and reveals how his words have aged well. In contrast the Christian nationalists have not. Continue reading

The Lonely Death of Nan Durrett From COVID-19 as Told in Baptist News Global

In the Baptist New Global they had a disturbing article about someone dealing with COVID-19. How she became infected and how she died isolated and alone. Its hard to read but the op-ed points to how the United States needs to take better care of seniors. And from my point of view it also illustrates why the COVID-19 virus needs to be taken seriously. A virus will not discriminate  between young and old. Black or white. A virus like this doesn’t care and will leave a lot of death in its wake. Continue reading

Why John Piper Would be a Miserable Comforter for New York City Amidst the COVID-19 Pandemic

As New York City deals with the COVID-19 pandemic John Piper has a message for the Big Apple. Again, as always Piper reveals as to how he is a miserable comforter. This time its New York City that gets the “good news.” The message is God is sovereign and yes, he strikes people down in sin. Or in other words God is a tyrant and people are nothing but puppets on a string to appease a narcissistic bully. Don’t you just find that comforting?  Continue reading
