A Look at Rockpoint Church’s Political Comments on their Church Blog. A Gentle Reminder to the EFCA that they Need to Follow the Johnson Amendment

Senior Pastor Roy Fruits wrote a polarizing blog post that flirted with politics in the pulpit after the 2016 election. This is a look at what the pastor from the EFCA’s Rockpoint Church in Lake Elmo, Minnesota said. This post is a gentle reminder in the current election season that the Johnson Amendment prohibits politics being done from the pulpit. If this blog finds examples of EFCA churches that violate the Johnson Amendment I will report them to some of the atheist organizations I have interacted with.  Continue reading

Documenting Roy Fruits Political Commentary Through Rockpoint Church in Lake Elmo, Minnesota on the 2016 Election and the Supreme Court

This post is the first of two posts. This post preserves a political commentary that comes close to violating the Johnson Amendment. Senior Pastor Roy Fruits wrote a post on the church blog after the 2016 election about politics, the Supreme Court and God. Tyler Chernesky of Christ Community Church in Kansas City on Friendship and Proverbs. Seeing What was Taught in a Sermon Play Out in Kansas and Missouri

Tyler Chernesky at Christ Community Church in Kansas City gave an interesting talk about friendship and Proverbs at the Downtown location on October 7, 2018. This post looks at Christ Community Church and Tyler Chernesky as well as the man who is the driving force behind this EFCA church movement in the Kansas City metropolitan area – Tom Nelson. EFCA’s Church Multiplication Sunday Occurs on October 7, 2018

On October 7, 2018 the EFCA is having Church Multiplication Sunday. Its a push through prayer for more church plants across the EFCA. In this post you can see the prayer requests for the EFCA districts across the United States. I also urge the denomination to proceed with caution as there are a number of internal issues inside the EFCA that need mitigation. From pastoral credentialing gaps to managing the Neo-Calvinist issue. If the EFCA doesn’t manage and deal with these issues then this will create additional problems for the EFCA.  Continue reading

EFCA, Please Learn from My Mistake

On August 26, 2018 this blog made an error about D.A. Carson and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. This post is a follow up explaining what happened and how that error occurred. In addition I also use this mistake to teach the EFCA how to respond to errors that will happen inside the denomination. My hope is that the EFCA will learn from my mistake and become a better organization in time.  Continue reading

Has D.A. Carson Separated From Trinity Evangelical Divinity School?

D.A. Carson who has taught at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School since 1978 appears to be no longer affiliated with the EFCA’s flagship seminary. Its almost as it Carson has disappeared. There is no statement on a possible retirement and the usual Neo-Calvinist organizations are silent about any such retirement. Did Carson’s statement in support of C.J. Mahaney in 2013 come back to haunt him and did the EFCA make a move against one of their most well known personalities?  Continue reading
