The EFCA needs to start to have a discussion about spiritual abuse. From EFCA One, to blog posts and district conferences its time for the national EFCA to begin to discuss spiritual abuse. A Visit to the EFCA’s Salem Church in Staten Island, New York and Some Feedback

Recently this blog was in the New York City area. While in the area l stopped and visited the EFCA’s Salem Church as led by John Welborn. While Salem is a warm and welcoming environment to strangers, it’s sound can be hard on one’s hearing. Also this blog noticed that John Welborn is using material from James MacDonald. An Open Letter to Eddie Cole (Transitioning Eastern District Superintendent of the EFCA and Wishing Him Well)

The leadership of the EFCA’s Eastern District is changing. As Eddie Cole prepares to move to Minneapolis with his wife Jessica this is an open letter to the EFCA leader. I just want to not only wish him well but reflect on Eddie based off personal interactions and what others have shared with me. The Eastern District’s loss is Minneapolis’ gain. SE District Superintendent Glen Schrieber Invites EFCA President Kevin Kompelien and District Superintendents to Montgomery, Alabama Where they Wrestle with the Legacy of Racial Injustice

EFCA SE District Superintendent inspired upon President Kevin Kompelien that the District Superintendents visit The Legacy Museum and the National Memorial for Peace and Justice in Montgomery, Alabama. As a result the EFCA leadership visited the museum and memorial to lynching victims in March of 2019. In a series of blog posts by both Kevin Kompelien and other EFCA leaders and personalities they reflect on the experience and the challenges that racial injustice poses today and how it needs to be dealt with. Dave Boerema glows over the mega church and talks about his personal repentance. In this troubling article he misses all the stories, scandals and problems that have occurred in mega churches. Child Sex Abuse: A Look at How Two Churches Responded – John Welborn’s Salem Church in Staten Island, New York and Mark Mullery’s Redeeming Grace Church (Former Sovereign Grace Fairfax) in Fairfax, Virginia

This is a blog post looking at how two different churches handled the issue of sexual abuse. One is Mark Mullery’s Redeeming Grace Church (formerly Sovereign Grace Fairfax) here in the Northern Virginia suburbs of Washington, D.C. and the other is the EFCA’s Salem Church in Staten Island, New York as led by John Welborn. Due to how Salem handled a difficult situation well, its this blog’s hope that the EFCA in Minneapolis will study the Salem incident in a white paper to help the greater EFCA organization.
