Acts 29 Trinity City Church Plants Immanuel Fellowship in Minneapolis with Fellowship Associates. Is the Culture that Led to the Alleged Cover-up of Voyeurism and Child Pornography in Fellowship Memphis Being Duplicated in the Twin Cities?

On September 16, 2018 another Acts 29 church, that of Immanuel Fellowship will be launched in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Its done in conjunction of Fellowship Associates, which John Bryson of Fellowship Memphis is linked; and also Acts 29/EFCA’s Trinity City Church in Saint Paul, Minnesota. It is this blog’s belief that Trent Senske’s church needs to be aborted before its launch. Is a culture that led to the alleged cover up of child pornography and voyeurism in Fellowship Memphis in Tennessee being duplicated in Minneapolis? That is the issue The Wondering Eagle wrestles with today right before this weekend’s launch of Immanuel Fellowship.  Continue reading

Redemption Hill’s Bill Riedel from Acts 29 on What He Learned About Politics in Planting a Church in Washington, D.C.

At The Gospel Coalition recently Bill Riedel from Acts 29/EFCA’s Redemption Hill in Washington, D.C., wrote an article about how to plant a church and having it be politically diverse. This article looks at what the Acts 29 pastor said and raises some questions. While I agree the church can address politics and should not be partisan, the warped view of injustice that this Acts 29 pastor has is an issue that needs to be addressed.   Continue reading

EFCA, Please Learn from My Mistake

On August 26, 2018 this blog made an error about D.A. Carson and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. This post is a follow up explaining what happened and how that error occurred. In addition I also use this mistake to teach the EFCA how to respond to errors that will happen inside the denomination. My hope is that the EFCA will learn from my mistake and become a better organization in time.  Continue reading

How Acts 29’s Trinity City Church in Saint Paul, Minnesota Responded to the Neo-Nazi Rally in Charlottesville

When a Neo-Nazi rally happened in Charlottesville, Virginia Acts 29 Trinity City Church responded quickly to condemn it. Bryan Lair’s church re-published the EFCA statement on racism from the 1992 General Conference. Despite my concerns with the Acts 29 movement, which this blog writes about, I am encouraged that Bryan’s church responded in the manner that it did to this disturbing incident here in Virginia.  Continue reading

Analysis of The North Central District of the Evangelical Free Church of America

This is an overview of the North Central District of the EFCA. This post commences with The Wondering Eagle writing about the EFCA in Minnesota. In addition to looking at Brian Farone who is the district superintendent I look at some of the churches in the district. There are problems with Trinity City Church, Pine City Evangelical Free and Trinity Evangelical Free in Plainview. There are also some positive developments in the North Central District which are highlighted in this post.  Continue reading

Analyzing the Growth of Reformed Theology/Neo-Calvinism in the Evangelical Free Church of America: North Central District

These are the results of the growth of Neo-Calvinism/Neo-Puritanism in the Evangelical Free Church of America’s  (EFCA) North Central District. The North Central District includes Minnesota and one EFCA church in Wisconsin.  As I continue to work through the EFCA this research continues to show that this denomination is slowly being theologically hijacked by Neo-Calvinists.  Continue reading

How Should the Evangelical Free Church of America (EFCA) be Viewed? Well it’s Complicated

Someone from the western United States emailed me and asked what are the problems in the EFCA? They are new to the organization and are trying to figure it out. I decided to tackle their question and give an overview of my thoughts about the EFCA from the 10,000 foot level. The EFCA has some great people, churches and leaders. However, it also has serious challenges inside the organization. This post from The Wondering Eagle looks at the EFCA from a broad perspective and offers analysis on the organization.

Posting the Question I Submitted to Bill Riedel at Redemption Hill (Washington, D.C. Acts 29) Asking if Bill Believes in Military Chaplains? Or out of Neo-Calvinist Theology Does he Reject the Concept of Military Chaplains?

This is a post of my question to Bill Riedel at Acts 29 Redemption Hill here in the Washington, D.C. area. After telling the story of Acts 29 Remnant in Richmond I questioned Bill and asked if he believes that military chaplains should exist. Or does he reject the concept out of his Neo-Calvinist theology.  Continue reading

An Open Letter to Ryan Kwon (Acts 29 Pastor at Resonate Regarding Comments Made in a Gospel Coalition Article)

This is an open letter to Acts 29 pastor Ryan Kwon. This is a response to what Ryan says in an article in The Gospel Coalition about the demise of Mars Hill and Acts 29 eventually thriving. Why does Ryan and Acts 29 at the time give the benefit of the doubt to Mark Driscoll when many people under him had that denied? Ryan also had a flawed view of Acts 29 being healthy. And Ryan seems to believe that an organization growing is a sign of God blessing it. I wonder if he thinks the same thing of Mormonism, Scientology or Islam?  Continue reading

The EFCA and Acts 29, Looking at Ryan Kwon of Resonate Church in Fremont, California; Plus the Issues with James Walden’s Riverside Community Church

A look at the relationship between Acts 29 and the EFCA. This post has an incomplete list of the known Acts 29 churches in the EFCA denomination. This also looks at the point man between the EFCA and Acts 29, Ryan Kwon. Ryan is on the Board of the Acts 29 network and the only EFCA pastor to do so. Also can a church straddle both the EFCA and Acts 29 denominations? Matt Boedy’s story of James Walden’s Riverside Community Church stands as a stark warning to stay away from Acts 29 churches in the EFCA.  Continue reading
