Greg Strand Reflects on the Incarnation for Advent

With Advent coming to a close and Christmas tomorrow this blog wants to share some thoughts as to what the EFCA is saying for Advent and Christmas for 2020. The first post I want to draw attention to is from the executive director of the theology and credentialing Greg Strand. There will be several posts following this that will share what several EFCA pastors around the United States are saying this holiday season amidst a pandemic. Continue reading

In a Key Moment in American History Here is How the EFCA Should Roll Out the COVID-19 Vaccine in a Safe, Effective Way for the Denomination

The United States of America is at a key moment in American history now that a COVID-19 vaccine is being rolled out. While the rules for the vaccine will differ state by state, this blog has a proposal for how the EFCA should encourage people to take the vaccine. From Kevin Kompelien down to the local EFCA church pastor here is a possible campaign to get people on the same page and take the COVID-19 vaccine. In the process the EFCA can be a force multiplier for the denomination, American evangelicalism and the culture in which it operates in communities across the country. Continue reading

Why The Abuse Allegations Coming From Larry Osborne’s North Coast Church in San Diego Are Going to be a Test for Greg Strand and the EFCA

The abuse situation coming out of Larry Osborne’s North Coast Church is profoundly disturbing. The allegations coming forward at an Instagram page about abuse in many different forms that has allegedly taken place over the previous ten years inside North Coast Church are hard to process. Sexual abuse allegations are going to test congregationalism as practiced by the EFCA. And especially after the EFCA’s 2020 pre-conference at the theology conference which addressed the topic of abuse. How individuals like Greg Strand and Tim Jacobs respond to this situation growing out of Larry Osborne’s church in California is going to speak volumes about the health of the EFCA. Continue reading

EFCA President Kevin Kompelien Lamants George Floyd’s Death. And Why the Southern Baptist Convention Will Not be Able to Overcome its Racial Past and Needs to be Dissolved

After George Floyd’s death and the riots in Minneapolis EFCA President Kevin Kompelien reacted to the injustice and loss that took place. This post is a response to the EFCA President. And while I think the EFCA is better situated to address racial issues for the first time in contrast I reflect and explain how the Southern Baptist Convention will not be able to overcomes its racist past. In my view the SBC needs to be dissolved. Continue reading

During the COVID-19 Outbreak President Kevin Kompelien is Calling on the EFCA to Pray for Those Afflicted by the Disease

The EFCA President was in San Jose when California was placed in shelter in place as the COVID-19 pandemic was growing. This post looks at how he initially responded and then as the pandemic grew called for the national EFCA and churches to pray for those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. This blog which frequently deals with the problems of evangelicalism and has observed other evangelicals remain silent during this time of need is modestly encouraged by Kevin Kompelien’s leadership and call for prayer.  Continue reading

Does Greg Strand and the EFCA Understand Spiritual Abuse? This Blog Would Say No Especially with D.A. Carson Who Once Tore into a Rape Victim to Defend C.J. Mahaney Speaking at the Theology Conference

The EFCA’s pre-conference appears to take a strong stand on abuse issues. And yet in the EFCA Theology Conference D.A. Carson is teaching. Carson once lashed out at a rape victim from Sovereign Grace to defend C.H. Mahaney. This blog would like to ask if Greg Strand takes abuse seriously? Is it possible for the EFCA to follow what Jesus said about admitting mistakes and stop worshiping him and make things right? That is the question today’s post deals with. Continue reading
