Brian Farone, the North Central District Superintendent of the EFCA overseeing Minnesota addresses the issue of child sex abuse. This blog is grateful for taking a pro-active stance on this topic. After all modern evangelical Christianity is struggling with this topic. Continue reading
The EFCA needs to start to have a discussion about spiritual abuse. From EFCA One, to blog posts and district conferences its time for the national EFCA to begin to discuss spiritual abuse. Inside the denomination there is one individual who should lead the discussion and guide it. John Secrest is an EFCA pastor who went through the dark Harvest Bible Chapel scandal, and yet he’s the perfect candidate to lead the EFCA in a discussion about spiritual abuse. Continue reading
This is a blog post looking at how two different churches handled the issue of sexual abuse. One is Mark Mullery’s Redeeming Grace Church (formerly Sovereign Grace Fairfax) here in the Northern Virginia suburbs of Washington, D.C. and the other is the EFCA’s Salem Church in Staten Island, New York as led by John Welborn. An open letter to Greg Strand. This is encouraging the EFCA to address the issue of D.A. Carson attacking a sexual assault victim in support of C.J. Mahaney. Its time for the EFCA to act and do the right thing. After all Al Mohler of the Southern Baptists has recanted and addressed the issue. Why is the EFCA staying silent?
Bill Riedel from Redemption Hill writes an article in The Gospel Coalition about building in accountability into a church plant. In the process he also pushes for “meaningful membership” and church discipline. Redemption Hill in Washington D.C. is a part of the EFCA and Acts 29. This blog believes that even if a church has these policies in place sex abuse would still occur. What Bill Riedel should have done is reach out to Washington, D.C. law enforcement and consult with them in building a solid program to prevent sexual abuse. Continue reading
