Writing About an Email Exchange with Anne Marie Miller in December of 2015 When Reviewing Cru’s (Formerly Campus Crusade for Christ) Christmas Conferences.

The Wondering Eagle had an email exchange with Anne Marie Miller in December of 2015. It came about because this blog annually reviews and writes about Cru’s Christmas Conferences. In an email exchange she discussed being the victim of a sexual assault. Between then and now Anne Marie Miller decided to go forward and make the report against Mark Aderholt. Continue reading

A disturbing scandal comes out of the Southern Baptist Convention’s International Missions Board (IMB). Its the story of Anne Marie Miller and Mark Aderholt. Aderholt was a student at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary who groomed and sexually abused Anne, Anne in time realized the severity of the situation and the IMB was notified. They did an investigation but did not report Aderholt’s alleged abuse to law enforcement. As a result of the #MeToo situation Anne had the courage to file a report to Arlington Police in Texas. Today’s The Wondering Eagle looks at this disturbing story.   Continue reading

An Open Letter to Kendra and Brad Hansen (EMI Missionaries in South Africa)

An open letter to Kendra and Brad Hansen as they embark on their mission in South Africa with EMI World. Just a reflection on someone who I have known for almost 17 years and going back to Campus Crusade at Marquette University. This also considers the changes we both have had to deal with. Given many of the dark subjects that I write about at The Wondering Eagle its nice to see something come together that is beautiful.  Continue reading

From Cru, Sovereign Grace to John MacArthur’s Ministry; Are Women Responsible for Keeping Men Pure?

The latest scandal from John MacArthur’s Masters College leads to this post. This is a reflection on how ministries from Cru, to Sovereign Grace to John MacArthur want women to be modest so as to help keep guys from “stumbling” into lust. Are women responsible for guys’s purity? Or is evangelical culture a rape culture as we have seen both in Sovereign Grace and now John MacArthur’s ministry?  Continue reading

An Open Letter to Jon Payne (District Superintendent of the Forest Lakes District on Reflecting on my Life in Wisconsin)

An open letter to Jon Payne the EFCA District Superintendent of the Forest Lakes District in Wisconsin. This is a reflection of my life in Wisconsin, attending Marquette and the city of Milwaukee which was once my home. This also remembers a different time in life. A time before I knew what spiritual abuse was, and how dark many parts of evangelical Christianity can be. It was a time I had hope and trusted the church. Is was a time before one was burned and fried.    Continue reading

A Third Open Letter to Joe Blow (On Becoming a Dad while Mourning the Loss of my Mom)

An open letter to Joe Blow. Telling him about the grief I am experiencing with my Mom’s death. Against all that I learned that he became a Dad recently. This is a letter expressing both emotions of mourning and joy. Life goes on even amidst the pain. And in my season of mourning I am grateful for Joe and Ellie’s excitement in becoming parents.  Continue reading

Cru Winter Conference Review 2016-2017: David Platt, Matt Smethurst, Jackson Crum and J.D. Greear are Some of the Main Speakers

The Wondering Eagle reviews the Cru Winter and Christmas Conferences for 2016 and 2017.  This is a review of all the speakers and agendas. This blog recommends Greensboro, Dallas, Portland and Los Angeles. This blog does not recommend Denver, Baltimore and Indianapolis. As of December 18, Minneapolis is supported, if Paul Tripp is still scheduled to speak then The Wondering Eagle will pull support for TCX. I am growing deeply concerned about a fundamentalist Neo-Calvinist agenda growing in Cru which gives this writer deep pause about this organization. Continue reading

An Open Letter to Cru Staff (Regarding the Criminal Allegations from Bryan Loritts Fellowship Memphis)

This is an open letter to Cru staff in the United States  who work for Cru which was formerly known as Campus Crusade for Christ.  This letter is regarding one of their well known speakers and the incredibly serious allegations of the cover up of voyeurism, and the alleged destruction of child pornography in Bryan Loritts Fellowship Memphis. The negligence of the Fellowship Memphis leadership led to a large number of victims (conservative estimate I would say 1,500 over a three year period) at Downtown Church in Memphis. Continue reading
