What I Learned About Life From My Mom’s Illness and Death

This is about what I learned when it comes to life as a result of my Mom’s illness and death. This is a personal reflection I want to do on the one month anniversary of my Mom’s passing. One month ago, today at 6:24 in the evening, my family was broken. These are some lessons I have learned as I reflect back on the situation and what I wish others would learn from me.  Continue reading

Critique on Kathryn Butler’s “From Medical Doctor to Stay-at-Home Mom” at Desiring God as Coming from the Son of a Neurosurgeon

Kathryn Butler a Clinical Surgeon in the Boston area writes an article for Desiring God in which she explains why she walks away from active medicine to be a stay at home Mom. This article is filled with issues that I believe warrants a response. From Kathryn throwing the complementarian grenade, to making others feel guilty, to also exploring whether or not she is wasting her skills as Jesus taught in the parable of the talents. This post is from the son of a California neurosurgeon who grew up in a medical family. Continue reading

Wayne Grudem’s Un-Orthodox View of the Trinity and the Question that Must Be Asked: Can the ESV Bible be Trusted?

Today’s post looks at the issue of how the Trinity has historically been tampered with by sects, and un-orthodox theology systems such as the Mormons. Today the trinity is being re-defined by the Neo-Calvinists, and looks at Wayne Grudem and his advocating of Eternal Subordination of the Son theology. It begs the question….should we trust the ESV Bible given that the person deeply involved in the translation has a view of the Trinity which goes against the Nicene Creed? Continue reading

Analysis of the Southeast District of the Evangelical Free Church of America

Today I do a profile on the Southeast District which is headed up by Glen Schrieber and is responsible for all Evangelical Free churches in Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky and Louisiana.  This post also puts the Southeast District on notice that I will write about corruption and polity issues of the Evangelical Free denomination. What drives me to take on this project? The silence by the Evangelical Free denomination on D.A Carson’s corruption, a traumatic experience that I endured and personal knowledge of atheism. Why Write about Church Corruption, Systemic and Systematic Issues? Lessons from the Creation of the National Park Service in 1916

The National Park Service turns 100 this month. Over a century ago a number of people had the vision, and drive to preserve national parks. They ran into difficulty, and went against the culture at the time. In time they convinced others that places like Yosemite, Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon and others deserved protection. Religious bloggers are similar in that we love the church too much to keep it as is. We love the church and write and endure difficulty so that others will not. We write so that a person can attend an Evangelical Free Church or Southern Baptist Church in 2050 and worship in peace. Continue reading

95 Reasons Why we Need a New Reformation

After some of the feedback I have received I decided to take the 95 reasons alone and make them a stand alone post. Feel free to print and turn this in with your resignation from a Neo-Calvinist church. Or in the spirit of Martin Luther you can nail or tape  these to the door of your local church. For those that do so please take a picture and email me about the experience. I was out traveling this past weekend so this will fill until the next post. Also for those inquiring…it’s not an accident that Jonathan Leeman is listed four times. The corruption in 9 Marks justifies a new Reformation alone. Continue reading

Jon Bloom at Desiring God Writes on Reformation Day; My Response to Jon on Why we Need a New Reformation and my 95 Reasons

Some thoughts on Jon Bloom’s article at Desiring God on Reformation Day. My response in saying that Jon is writing about the corruption in himself, Sovereign Grace, and Neo-Calvinism. We need a new Reformation and I write my 95 reasons why.  Eagle also has a challenge…I challenge someone to nail (or tape) these 95 reasons to the door of Capital Hill Baptist Church or Sovereign Grace Louisville when either Mark Dever or CJ Mahaney is preaching. Their theological tyranny is coming to an end. Continue reading

Movies & Theology: Source Code – Thoughts on Death and Reconciliation; Why John Piper would Dislike The Martian

Today I am doing something different. First I do a plug for The Martian, and realize how much John Piper would detest it. Next, I am looking at a couple of topics from the movie The Source Code. In this post I reflect a little bit on death and reconciliation. As always I invite criticism and differing points of view. This post does have a homework assignment designed to challenge all readers. Continue reading
