Recalling My Formative Years Inside Evangelicalism in Wisconsin. Plus Deeply Embarrassing and Troubling Newspaper Articles About Dairy State Evangelical Christians Worshiping Donald Trump Over Jesus

Recently Evangelical Christians in Wisconsin have received some press in the Boston Globe and the London Guardian. The publicity which is embarrassing discusses how white evangelicals in Wisconsin are worshiping Donald Trump over Jesus. I once called Wisconsin home and today stand horrified by what has developed. In addition the behavior of white evangelicals that I once knew from people like Steve Papez of Milwaukee Metro Crusade or Russell Schmaltz from Elmbrook further highlight these issues or of how some evangelicals are turning a blind eye. As I continue to push back from this stream of evangelicalism I have to grapple as to how the formative years of my life were wasted in planting a Crusade chapter at Marquette University as well as being involved in churches like Wooded Hills and others. This blog entry is in part a post-mortem as to why I am pushing back from evangelicalism. Continue reading

McLean Bible Changes it Policies After the Scott Woods Grooming Situation and Caleb Moore Allegedly Violates Those Policies. Nate Reed Communicates Coming Website Changes and Social Media Policy. And 16 Years of Sermons by Lon Solomon are Purged From the Website

There is more news with McLean Bible in the Washington, D.C. area. The Southern Baptist mega church implemented more child safety policies in the wake of the Scott Woods situation. The policies were aimed at strengthening child protection measures. And then Caleb Moore who leads The Rock Ministries undermined those rules when he violated them communicating with a teenager behind a family’s back. Also Nate Reed emailed the staff in mid December 2019 about the changing McLean’s website and limiting social media interaction by staff. Also in the new McLean Bible website this blog is disappointed that 16 years of sermons and teaching material by Lon Solomon were purged from the website. The authoritarianism at McLean Bible is troubling. Continue reading

Elmbrook Makes The Washington Post and Deep Disappointment in My Former Church as My Journey Away From Evangelicalism Continues

Elmbrook Church in the Milwaukee suburb of Brookfield made The Washington Post this past week. After the Christianity Today editorial calling for Donald Trump to resign the Post went to Elmbrook Church to ask attenders what they thought of the editorial. The responses were varied but they highlighted the issues today with Evangelical Christianity. In the fact that people don’t come forward and criticize Trump’s mocking the disabled or the boasting of sexual assault, well it is another illustration of why religion can be corrupt. After all if those who claim to follow Jesus, and be a new creation or born again can’t communicate the basics of their faith then why do places like Elmbrook exist?

In Studying at the Masters Seminary Tony Kibic of Mosaic City Church in Fairfax, Virginia Illustrates How Evangelical Christianity Will Indefinitely Struggle With Domestic and Sexual Abuse

One of the churches in the New City Network in the Washington, D.C. area is Mosaic City Church. Tony Kibic who serves at Mosaic is pursuing his education through John MacArthur’s The Master’s Seminary. For Tony, to pursue his education through a school that a couple of years back demanded that a rape victim repent to her rapist for tempting him illustrates why Evangelical Christianity will never rise above the sexual or domestic abuse issue. Not only are too many evangelicals infatuated with celebrity pastors, but abuse is inconvenient. Then you also have to figure in what Mark Noll said about the scandal of the evangelical mind. The Stress of Being a Whistle Blower in a Washington, D.C. Mega Church. Plus How Did Fairfax Community Church Bully a TV Station Not to Report a Scandal? Was Loretta Rogers Cooper Responsible for that Action?

This is the story of how I became a whistle blower at Fairfax Community Church. Back in 2014 while involved I stumbled across information that Rod Stafford’s church concealed a dangerous situation from the congregation. Their Care Director at the time – Eric Nickle – was on the Virginia Sex Offender Registry. This post is about how I went public, how I struggled with it, and how coming from a church in Milwaukee – Elmbrook, which had a sexual abuse situation with their youth pastor committing suicide in 1999 ¬†compelled me to tip off the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests. My conscious is clear and if something happens at Fairfax Community it won’t be because I stayed silent. Continue reading

From the Paxton Singer Case in Harvest Bible Chapel in Chicago to the Scott Woods Situation at David Platt’s McLean Bible. How Law is Not Keeping Up with Changes in Technology

In two disturbing cases involving alleged child predators barriers were encountered. In both the Paxton Singer situation at Harvest Bible Chapel scandal in Chicago and the Scott Woods alleged abuse at McLean Bible justice has been elusive. The main concern this blog has is that the laws are not keeping up with the quickly evolving technology. And that is leading to problems and opens our society to risk in many ways. Continue reading
