Mike McKay from Cypress Church on the Importance of Peace; My Response? Peace, Peace, What Peace?!? There is no Peace in Modern Evangelical Christianity!!

The Senior Pastor of Cypress Church in Cypress, California writes a blog post about the importance of peace. He also mentions that church can be a great way to find peace. Is that always true? After all I would suggest that there is no peace in modern evangelicalism not when you have authority on the rise, organizations like Acts 29 in existence, and church hijackings occurring in the Evangelical Free Church of America. Peace? Peace?  What peace!?!   Continue reading

An Open Letter to Michelle Freeman (Calvary Temple)

An open letter to Michelle Freeman on her departure to South Carolina. A letter cherishing her transparency, and courage as she has stood up to Star Scott for nearly a decade. Also it’s my hope that she will remain in the fight and that she will come back to Loudoun when Star Scott is prosecuted and convicted for the allegations of sexual abuse. And I want to state that I believe that day is coming. Continue reading

What is Gossip? What is Slander? Addressing the Issue of Bitterness; Finally the Word Bitter will be Banned at The Wondering Eagle

Looking at the use of words such as gossip, slander and bitter. Numerous events have left me to deal with this issue. Its my contention that people who went through their own theological hell are not bitter, but instead expressing a righteous anger. Also in this post I explain why the use of the word bitter will be banned from this blog. Its going to be one of the only words that will be banned. Continue reading

How the Internet Helps Heal and Bring People Together

How the internet helps heal and how those hurt by the church connect and reach out to each other. This looks at the role social media plays in totalitarian churches and how I realized this in writing about Steve Estes Community Evangelical Free Church in  Elverson, Pennsylvania. Also if you were hurt by the church you are not alone, and you will heal in your own way in your own time. Each person is different. Continue reading

Why Write about Church Corruption, Systemic and Systematic Issues? Lessons from the Creation of the National Park Service in 1916

The National Park Service turns 100 this month. Over a century ago a number of people had the vision, and drive to preserve national parks. They ran into difficulty, and went against the culture at the time. In time they convinced others that places like Yosemite, Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon and others deserved protection. Religious bloggers are similar in that we love the church too much to keep it as is. We love the church and write and endure difficulty so that others will not. We write so that a person can attend an Evangelical Free Church or Southern Baptist Church in 2050 and worship in peace. Continue reading

On February 17, 2015 The Wondering Eagle had its first blog post. This blog was born out of an incident involving a Care Group Leader from Redeemer Arlington. A year later there are 206 posts and 65,000 people who have read. This is a birthday that needs to be celebrated. I also examine how this blog came to be, critical moments along the way in 2015, and what you can expect to see in 2016. To The Wondering Eagle…Happy Birthday! Continue reading

“…Someone Needs to Sue These Bastards.” Are Evangelical Christians Reaching a Tipping Point When it Comes to Lawsuits and Legal Action?

Are evangelical Christians views on lawsuits changing? From a Gospel to Asia lawsuit to Bill Gothard lawsuit and more, have Christians reached a tipping point and are more comfortable with legal action? My thoughts on how a lawsuit against a corrupt organization or ministry can be a form of worship in holding them to account. Continue reading

Eagle is ready for 2016 and it is shaping to be a very busy year. This blog arose out of pain from a false accusation from a Care Group Leader at Eric Simmon’s Redeemer Arlington in the Washington, D.C. area. If individuals have concerns over it, they can approach Redeemer and Andrew White ultimately….in the end all I wanted is peace. Continue reading

Why C.J. Mahaney and the Evangelical Christian Church Need to see Spotlight

My take on the movie Spotlight. Why the evangelical Christian church needs to see it and the lessons the church can glean from the movie. The chief lesson I believe is the following…you cannot conceal or hide illicit activity as it always comes to the surface eventually. My belief and my call that CJ Mahaney needs to be held accountable for all alleged child sex abuse cover up in the SGM/SGC denomination. Continue reading
