An Open Letter to Merle Stoltzfus (Formerly Community Evangelical Free in Elverson, Now Brick Lane Community Church

This is an open letter to Merle Stoltzfus of Brick Lane Community Church, formerly Community Evangelical Free Church of Elverson, Pennsylvania. This communicates my thoughts about Merle. From his own small group to other small groups, Elverson and the greater EFCA at the time, Merle has quite an anger problem and its my understanding that a number of Stoltzufs children were embarrassed over how Merle worked to protect Brock. This is a letter I have been meaning to do for a long time.  Continue reading

Does Christian Counseling & Education Foundation Take Domestic Abuse Seriously? Why is Steve Estes Still on the Board of Directors?

Steve Estes is still on the board of directors of Christian Counseling & Education Foundation (CCEF.) I remain baffled after everything that took place in Elverson, Pennsylvania that he would still be on the board. This blog would like to ask if CCEF takes domestic abuse seriously? If they did then they would remove Steve Estes from the organization and see that he is unfit to serve.  Continue reading

Writing About an Email Exchange with Anne Marie Miller in December of 2015 When Reviewing Cru’s (Formerly Campus Crusade for Christ) Christmas Conferences.

The Wondering Eagle had an email exchange with Anne Marie Miller in December of 2015. It came about because this blog annually reviews and writes about Cru’s Christmas Conferences. In an email exchange she discussed being the victim of a sexual assault. Between then and now Anne Marie Miller decided to go forward and make the report against Mark Aderholt. Continue reading

Is Nepotism a Major Issue Inside the EFCA? From the Spenst’s of Trinity Evangelical View in Plainview to New Life in Hastings, Minnesota. Plus Remembering the Nepotism Issue at the Former Community Evangelical Free in Elverson, Pennsylvania

Does the EFCA struggle with nepotism? Two churches from the North Central District stand out for issues of nepotism. Those churches are Trinity Evangelical Free in Plainview and New Life Evangelical Free in Hastings, Minnesota. In addition I also spend some time looking at the nepotism issue at Community Evangelical Free in Elverson, Pennsylvania which was in the Eastern District of the EFCA. Its my hope that the EFCA will start to examine how the denomination can better deal with nepotism for the health of the EFCA.  Continue reading

Publishing a Comment that was Not Approved on Greg Strand’s EFCA Post on the “Significance of Silence”

The Wondering Eagle is writing about an EFCA church hijacking by Neo-Calvinists outside Minneapolis in the North Central District. Linda left a comment on Greg Strand’s blog post about the “Significance of Silence” and the comment never saw the light of day. I honestly hope this is an accident or that the comment went into the spam folder. Linda tried to reach out of the EFCA regarding her situation for some time. And most of the time the EFCA has mostly ignored her communications.  Continue reading

Why Brick Lane Community Church in Elverson, Pennsylvania Will be Far More Dangerous than Community Evangelical Free Church

Brick Lane Community Church in Elverson, Pennsylvania has broken away from the EFCA. This church has a problem and I believe its now far more dangerous than Community Evangelical Free. What makes this church more dangerous? It is accountable to no one and the next time there is an inappropriate  church discipline situation nothing can be done.  Continue reading

How Should the Evangelical Free Church of America (EFCA) be Viewed? Well it’s Complicated

Someone from the western United States emailed me and asked what are the problems in the EFCA? They are new to the organization and are trying to figure it out. I decided to tackle their question and give an overview of my thoughts about the EFCA from the 10,000 foot level. The EFCA has some great people, churches and leaders. However, it also has serious challenges inside the organization. This post from The Wondering Eagle looks at the EFCA from a broad perspective and offers analysis on the organization.

Brick Lane Community Church Joins The Gospel Coalition, and Challenging a Misleading Statement from Steve Estes Church

Brick Lane Community Church has exited the EFCA. Its statement in the local Elverson, Pennsylvania press was deceitful. It stated that they had to vote to separate from the EFCA and then align with the The Gospel Coalition. This post at The Wondering Eagle pushes back against that corrupt statement. After all in Eddie Cole’s Eastern District there are 15 EFCA churches involved in The Gospel Coalition. Plus it was learned that the most prolific pastors are Bill Kynes and Benjamin Vrbicek. The Wondering Eagle would like to ask, can Merle and Dave Stoltzfus and Steve Estes be honest?  Continue reading
