On the Church Planting Podcast Clint Clifton had Jordan Kauflin on to discuss what should be looked for in a worship leader. The podcast had issues as it also showed how corrupt Jordan Kauflin had become in touting Sovereign Grace Ministries music. And this is on top of my spiritual abuse mess that will never be resolved. This troubled podcast also revealed another development. That is how much of a brownnoser Clint Clifton of the New City Network has become.
“anyway, the money was great, but the corporate world just wasn’t to my liking. i guess i’m not a team player–or an ass-kisser.”
The reason I left you in Crete was that you might put in order what was left unfinished and appoint[a] elders in every town, as I directed you. 6 An elder must be blameless, faithful to his wife, a man whose children believe[b] and are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient. 7 Since an overseer manages God’s household, he must be blameless—not overbearing, not quick-tempered, not given to drunkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain. 8 Rather, he must be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined. 9 He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it.
Titus 1:5-9 NIV
Clint Clifton of the New City Network
This is a post that I have been meaning to do since December. All the other issues that took place especially Christian nationalism put this to the back burner. But its important and a response needs to be written by this blog. This blog was formed out of an incident of spiritual abuse from a leader under Jordan Kauflin at Redeemer of Arlington. So as such this blog writes about Redeemer and Jordan Kauflin. Plus given my past experience with Mclean Bible this blog pays attention to that church also. I listened to the podcast but let me touch on a couple of points that are said. You can listen to the podcast in, “Jordan Kauflin | What to Look for in a Worship Leader.”
What Jordan Kauflin Said
Jordan Kauflin spoke about his period in church planting and how his Dad, Bob Kauflin planted one in Charlotte when he was eight. Jordan spoke about how much music means to his family and how his family are “Christian celebrities.” He briefly spoke about what Bob Kauflin meant to Sovereign Grace Ministries and still pushed their music as well. Jordan spoke about founding Redeemer Arlington and then leaving for Atlanta to be at Christ Covenant Church which is led by Jason Dees. Kauflin spoke about choosing a worship leader and what should be looked for. He also stressed that some are about meeting Jesus in the moment of worship. He also addressed the different worship movements inside evangelicalism like Hillsong or Bethel. In the podcast the song writer also spoke about how using music from controversial organizations depends on the church’s maturity. Mature churches should be fine with material from a fallen leader or scandal plagued ministry. Younger and immature leaders will not be.
Analysis and Thoughts
Given Clint Clifton’s ties with the SBC let me start out with something I noticed in the podcast. This blog is convinced that Southern Baptist pastor Robert Jeffress has missed his true calling. Its clear that God created him to be a fluffer on a porn set in Southern California. Why do I say that? Because almost everyday Jeffress got down on his knees and sucked the penis of Donald Trump and he is the only one claiming he could could do it in the name of Jesus. All you have to do is watch the Southern Baptist pastor on Fox News frequently. You can read about Jeffress missed career in, “Considering Christian Nationalism. How Franklin Graham and Robert Jeffress Are Nothing But Fluffers.” So if Robert Jeffress is the fluffer at this blog what does that make Clint Clifton. Well after listening to that podcast its clear that Clifton should be the ass-kisser inside the SBC. His fawning and obsequious nature to Jordan Kauflin is something else. When Clifton plants his lips on Kauflin’s ass a new challenge emerges. I don’t know where the Southern Baptist Church planter’s face begins and where Jordan Kaulfin’s ass ends.
One of the interesting aspects of this blog is as I write about the scandals and dark side of modern evangelicalism that blog is often validated and a number of posts age well. Two years ago I did a post about the Kauflin family and the evangelical industrial complex and how corruption is transferred from one generation to another. You can read that post in, “The Pimping of God: Bob Kauflin Along with his Sons Jordan and Devon and the Evangelical Industrial Complex. Plus how Corruption is Transferred From One Generation to the Next.” When you Google Bob Kauflin family or Bob Kaulfin this is one of the top posts that comes up. And I can tell you since that post was written that its one of the stronger posts tat people still read at this blog. Jordan Kauflin in that interview conveyed how corruption in ministry is transferred. And in the scandal plagued Sovereign Grace Ministry story what you are seeing is the corrupt Bob Kauflin pass the torch to his son. That came through when I listened to that podcast.
But there is another disturbing element that comes out clear as well. Its that abuse and dare I even say sexual abuse are okay and to be tolerated when it comes to abuse. Clint Clifton chose to give a platform to a pastor who allowed a person he discipled get away with spiritual abuse. Not only did I learn why rape and sexual assault became an issue in the United States military through a false accusation. I also had to contend with how Andrew White’s abuse hurt my family. The height of the outrage was when my Mom was dealing with a long term illness that resulted in her death. My Mom dealt with delirium due to the medical stress of the situation. And on one of the days when she was lucid she asked how my efforts at finding another job were due to this ongoing false accusation which tarnished and created problems for me at work. I fucking blew that this is what my Mom worried about in the middle of a medical crisis. In the weeks before her death my Mom had the right to live out her life in peace. Jordan Kauflin ran from the abuse situation and didn’t come close to what a lawyer told me should be accepted. So the true irony is listening to Clint Clifton talking with Jordan Kauflin discussing the qualifications for a worship pastor, when Jordan Kauflin ran and didn’t come close to doing what an attorney advised me to accept. Oh and before continuing this blog knows that Clint Clifton and McLean Bible reads this blog. How? Well when I showed up a congregation meeting at McLean Bible to take notes and do a post, when I saw Clint Clifton the first words out of his mouth are, “You’re wrong.” Oh really…..
A medical crisis in California and where spiritual abuse entered a hospital room.
Clint Clifton Look Long and Hard at my Suffering Mother
Look long and hard at that picture from a medical crisis Clint. As I was helping to manage the medical crisis I took pictures and texted information to family and friends of my parents as the situation developed. Does that picture look like the place for a unresolved conflict to burst into? Now…my Mom deserved respect. Honor. And also decency. Jordan Kauflin denied all that to her. Not even knowing that I would be talking about my own Mom’s death one day I told Jordan that these situations you clean up because you never know what will happen. And its best to resolve conflict before its took late. I’ve left evangelicalism and have largely pushed back from faith and yet I find it sick that the Clint Clifton’s of the world think they will reach the people like me with all this kind of unresolved BS. My Mom’s picture shouldn’t even be on the internet in that context. In 1955 Emmitt Till’s mother who was outraged as his death held an open casket service that helped propel the Civil Rights movement. And for me this is similar as my outrage over this abuse popping up in my Mom’s; medical crisis and terminal illness even happened. It should not. And when people like Clint Clifton give Jordan Kauflin that platform it reveals how much money drives this situation. As I wrote about the other day as the Beth Moores’ leave the Southern Baptist those who stay behind in the corrupt organization are doing it for the money. Faith is a business. And that is why Clint Clifton is in this business. Its about money, power and control. A narcissistic wet dream which is what the Southern Baptists have become.
Hey Clint one parting word of advice after listening to that podcast. Wipe the shit off your beard. Your brownnosing was pretty deep.
