Vatican Encourages Catholics to Take COVID-19 Vaccine

The Vatican has stated that the vaccines by Moderna and Pfizer for the COPVID-19 pandemic can be used. In the same statement the Pope said that their links to aborted fetal tissue are so remote that it should not be an issue. With this step the Pope is encouraging the Catholic Church to take the COVID-19 vaccine.

When ethically irreproachable COVID-19 vaccines are not available … it is morally acceptable to receive COVID-19 vaccines that have used cell lines from aborted fetuses in their research and production process,” said the doctrinal office.

“All vaccinations recognized as clinically safe and effective can be used in good conscience with the certain knowledge that the use of such vaccines does not constitute formal cooperation with the abortion from which the cells used in production of the vaccines derive,

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.

The number of articles piling up for me to write related to evangelicals and the COVID-19 pandemic or vaccine is growing by the day. Then I saw this yesterday which I wanted to also push. Its a stark reminder of the differences between evangelicalism and Catholicism. And it also shows what happens when common sense and science rules the day. But will such a thing happen in evangelicalism with individuals like Sean Feucht or Ken Ham?

Some Catholics are concerned about the COVID-19 vaccines for Pfizer and Moderna and their links to aborted tissue. The Pope said that it was so remote and morally acceptable to use such vaccines. This action was taken by the Vatican on December 21, 2020. In taking this step this statement which was endorsed by Pope Francis, basically encouraged Catholics to embrace the COVID-19 vaccine as a way to deal with this world wide pandemic. You can read more about this in, “Vatican: Coronavirus vaccines ‘morally acceptable’ for Catholics.” When I think of some of the craziness that has been written about its nice to see some common sense. The Catholic church which has a troubled past with science, I’m thinking specifically of Galileo, has come a long way. Will evangelicals go down this path of reason and science? This blog is doubtful for some of them.  One of the articles I plan to do in the next couple of days deals with evangelical vaccine refugees leaving California due to vaccination laws is disturbing enough. But that is for tomorrow’s blog post and its a separate topic.

  1. Has Church Militant reacted to this one yet?
(I haven’t heard any distant loud explosions.)

Obviously to Pope Francis, “common sense” is not Worldly/Fleshly/Satanic like it is to so many Real True Christians(TM) running Christianity 1.0 Beta. With some lapses over its 20 centuries, the RCC is pretty resistant to Holy Nincompoop Syndrome.
