Recommended Read: Rolling Stone – Sin and Scandal at Liberty University

Rolling Stone Magazine did a comprehensive write up of the Liberty University scandal with Jerry Falwell Jr. Its a long read but well worth it. You can find the article linked to this blog post.

“You find out who your real friends are when you’re involved in a scandal.”

Elizabeth Taylor

For, “All people are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord endures forever.” And this is the word that was preached to you.

1 Peter 24:25 NIV

There is a well written and researched article about Liberty University and the scandals and problems that have taken place recently under the leadership of Jerry Falwell Jr. The article is one of the most comprehensive that I have read and this blog wants to draw attention to it so that people can read and process it. The article looks at the issues at Liberty, racial problems and how Jerry Falwell Jr governed the controversial evangelical school. It continues into the relationship between Jerry Falwell Jr and Donald Trump and goes all the way to the Giancarlo Granda issue. Its a long read but well worth it if you want to understand what is happening at Liberty University. Go to, “Sin and Scandal at Liberty University.”

  1. Oh my! The RS article brings all the pieces together, probably to become a “Lifetime” movie (it’s way too racy for Hallmark). Since Elmer Gantry, the church hasn’t learned that their leaders can be prone to sin, and that they need to confront and stop it (or at least part ways with the person involved) before it gets out of hand. Liberty did. not stop Jerry Jr when they knew it was bad. They will probably never recover, either their reputation or financially, and I personally don’t think that’s a bad thing.
