Fairfax Community Church Changes Its Name to Fairfax Church. Did a Stubborn but Fact Driven Blog Help Bring That Change?

Recently Fairfax Community Church which is affiliated with the Church of God in Anderson, Indiana denomination changed its name to Fairfax Church. The writer of this blog is a former attender who became a whistleblower when he learned that Rod Stafford’s church had hired a violent sex offender and that he had access to children’s areas. Did the stubborn reporting and coverage of this ethically challenged evangelical church result in their name change?

“Obscurity is dispelled by augmenting the light of discernment, not by attacking the darkness.

Socrates

I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— 7 which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ.

Galatians 1:6-7 NIV

Yes, people are to repent, but did Senior Pastor Rod Stafford and Fairfax Church repent? No they don’t believe in it and they will not.

This blog writes about the ongoing issues at Rod Stafford’s church in Fairfax, Virginia here in the Washington, D.C. area. Recently this blog learned that Fairfax Community Church is changing its name to Fairfax Church. When you utilize the internet achieve you can see the old name as recently as August. You can see the transition of the logo was underway at the time.

Yes You Are to Repent Unless You are Rod Stafford and Fairfax Church

Up above you see a video that comes from a series at Fairfax Community Church that was ongoing in September of 2020. The message Rod Stafford claimed to have is one of freedom. How repentance leads to freedom. This blog agrees and wishes that Rod Stafford and Fairfax Church would repent and admit they screwed up by being dishonest about a high risk sexual offender as defined by the Commonwealth of Virginia. Eric Nickle is still employed by Fairfax Church. Rod Stafford and Fairfax Church lied to people about the risk Eric Nikcle posed. And despite what they say Eric Nickle as a high risk sex offender had access to areas in the church that Rod Stafford denies. I know because I was in his Men’s Group at the time and say Nickle have access to the toddler area which is where we met. When I later realized the situation it put people like myself in a difficult spot of being a whistleblower. And set me up to face Fairfax Community Church at the time. It was distressing and troubling to see a church traffic in dishonesty so casually. But when I see that message from Rod Stafford I don’t know if I should laugh or shake my head. Rod expects people who attend Fairfax Church to engage in repentance. But will this church or Rod Stafford ever repent for lying to the church and the community? Anyone who thinks that Fairfax Church is a legitimate church struggles with how to find a church and lacks the basic understanding of the Christian faith. Rod Stafford and the leadership of Fairfax Church should model this principle of repentance that they speak of, but good luck expecting them to do so. And it the leadership of the church is not going to follow the guidelines or theology that they expect others to follow then why trust or listen to them at all?

Did The Wondering Eagle Help Force the Name Change?

I want to be careful in this last section because I don’t want to inflate my ego or take credit for a policy change or development. But did the stubborn persistence of The Wondering Eagle, who is written by a former attender of Rod Stafford’s church help bring this change about? There are over sixty articles that this blog has written about Fairfax Community Church and Rod Stafford. Several of those articles have hugged the website of Fairfax Community Church. If you Google pastor Rod Stafford you can find articles that I have done easily. This blog gets feedback from people who attend or who were thinking of attending who then step back or are troubled and walk away. This blog takes credit for those people who walk away or who decide not to attend. I do so because of feedback that is occasionally given. But can I take credit for a church changing its name? At this point I am unsure and lack the information to be able to make that decision. Cults and questionable churches change their name frequently. Just around the corner from Fairfax Church you had Sovereign Grace Fairfax which changed its name. You can read about that in, “Sinfully Craving a New Church Name? Sovereign Grace Fairfax Becomes Redeeming Grace Church.” Did the bad publicity and questions generated by blog posts written here at The Wondering Eagle lead Fairfax Community Church to change its name? This blog would like to know. If you have any information about this change please contact me at wonderingeagle261@gmail.com. But if you attend do so at your own risk and remember your family has been warned.
