Just Security Writes About How Q Anon is Nazism Rebranded

At an online forum called Just Security which is associated with New York University Law School a disturbing article is published. A genocide expert wrote about how Q Anon is the Nazi cult in a rebranded form. He then proceeds to explain the reasons why.

“I swore never to be silent whenever and wherever human beings endure suffering and humiliation. We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented. Sometimes we must interfere. When human lives are endangered, when human dignity is in jeopardy, national borders and sensitivities become irrelevant. Wherever men or women are persecuted because of their race, religion, or political views, that place must—at that moment—become the center of the universe.”

Elie Wiesel

“You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

Just Security is an online forum that looks at security issues at the national level. It is associated with the New York University School of Law in New York City. The other day a writer who worked on genocide issues for decades wrote a post that caught my eye. I am posting this because of how some evangelicals are caught up in Q Anon.

Gregory Stanton founded Genocide Watch. He also taught genocide studies and issues at George Mason University here in the Washington, D.C. area. He has a long history with the state department and worked on issues related to genocide in Rwanda in the 1990’s. The other day he wrote a post at Jest Security and explained how Q Anon is the Nazi cult rebranded. He explained how it rings with similarities with what was said about the Jews in Germany in the early 20th century. Read the start of the article.

A secret cabal is taking over the world. They kidnap children, slaughter, and eat them to gain power from their blood. They control high positions in government, banks, international finance, the news media, and the church. They want to disarm the police. They promote homosexuality and pedophilia. They plan to mongrelize the white race so it will lose its essential power.

Does this conspiracy theory sound familiar? It is. The same narrative has been repackaged by QAnon.

I have studied and worked to prevent genocide for forty years. Genocide Watch and the Alliance Against Genocide, the first international anti-genocide coalition, see such hate-filled conspiracy theories as early warning signs of deadly genocidal violence.

The plot, described above, was the conspiracy “revealed” in the most influential anti-Jewish pamphlet of all time. It was called The Protocols of the Elders of Zion. It was written by Russian anti-Jewish propagandists around 1902. It collected myths about a Jewish plot to take over the world that had existed for hundreds of years. Central to its mythology was the Blood Libel, which claimed that Jews kidnapped and slaughtered Christian children and drained their blood to mix in the dough for matzos consumed on Jewish holidays.

The Nazis published a children’s book of the Protocols that they required in the curriculum of every primary school in Germany. The Nazi newspaper, Der Stürmer (derived from the German word for “Storm”) spread the Blood Libel. Hitler’s Mein Kampf, his narcissistic autobiography and manifesto for his battle against the Jewish plot to rule the world, copied his conspiracy theories from the Protocols.

You can read the rest in, “QAnon is a Nazi Cult, Rebranded.”

As I think about this I remember reading Bonhoeffer’s Cost of Discipleship in a Bible study years ago. Bonhoefer expressed disappointment in how many Christians supported Nazism in Germany. In light of this article I wonder what Bonhoeffer would say about evangelicals in the United States who support Q Anon? Well maybe we do and they just don’t want to hear the answer.

  1. Q Anon mythology also includes a deified Leader figure (Donald Trump) who WILL wipe the Evil Cabal and all involved from the face of the earth. (And is being Persecuted by the Evil Cabal like Christianese “Persecution Porn” claims.)

    And Evangelical Christians form a large percentage of Q Anon’s base (as they do Donald Trump’s). And even those who do not view Q Anon as Inerrant SCRIPTURE are being influenced by Q Anon-originated memes and rumors which have shed knowledge of their origin to become free-floating “everybody knows that!” Absolute TRVTHs.

    Q Anon might have started out as an Internet troll seeing how many people were dumb enough to swallow it (“PWNED J00! ROFLMAO! ROFLMAO! ROFLMAO!”) but if Putin’s Dezinformatzia/AgitProp boiz haven’t swooped in and taken over the role of Q by now, they’re dumber than dirt.

    Substitute “destroy Born Again Bible-Believing Christianity in America” for “mongrelize the white race” and you have the Satanic Panic of the 1980s. Where DEMONS and WITCHES had taken over the world in a Vast Conspiracy headed by SATAN Himself. And the Secret Signs of this were EVERYWHERE for Those Who Had Eyes to See and Ears to Hear.

    (I know this because I was into Dungeons & Dragons and various F&SF trends of the time, and the Spiritual Warriors targeted our gaming club at CalState.)

    To summarize, the Satanic Panic never really ended, just damped down to a slow burn like “hot spots” after a big wildfire, ready to burst into another firestorm if and when they smoldered onto another fuel source.

    Central to its mythology was the Blood Libel, which claimed that Jews kidnapped and slaughtered Christian children and drained their blood to mix in the dough for matzos consumed on Jewish holidays.

    I heard the Blood Libel flat-out just last year. On that bastion of Absolut TRVTH, YouTube comment threads on Paranormal Videos. The subject of the video was a fringe phenomenon called “Missing 411” about mystery disappearances in public wilderness lands (especially National Parks). And such a subject — any Paranormal subhect — brings out the WEIRD comments (including some Christian claiming DEMONS! and calling the thread to “Accept Christ as your Personal Savior” within the first ten comments).

    Well, one commenter went on at length about how the JOOZ had dug all these Secret Tunnels with hidden adits underneath all National Parks so they could “disappear” Christian children to sacrifice to Satan and bake their blood (that which they didn’t drink at the sacrificial rite) into Passover Matzoi. Yes, you heard that right. The Blood Libel, straight on the rocks. With the addition of the “Secret Underground Alien Base Tunnels” of current Fringe UFO MJ-12 mythology.

    • This reminds me of a combination of the Satanic Panic, the danger of Marilyn Murray O’Hare, and all the uproar about the Palmolive corporate logo. However, this ia much worse as the other never went mainstream with a political party. I am a committed Christian, but I am not a committed conspiracy supporter. Sadder yet, a lot of people who dabble in this stuff (posting the occasional meme for example about a local pedo ring stealing children for their blood-how do you believe that stuff?) have no idea how dangerous it is. If it shows up on one of their favorite “conservative” news sources, it’s worthy of posting on Facebook and passing on to their hundreds of followers, who pass it on, and pass it on (just like the old song, by the way).

      • And the JUICIER it is, the faster it goes viral and the wider the virus spreads.
        And the Satanic Panic and its retreads are as JUICY as they come — truly “Pornography for the Pious”.

        The corporate logo you’re thinking of is Procter & Gamble, a 19th Century version of “The Man in the Moon” pattern. I think the Satanic Logo rumor got traced by P&G’s lawyers to Amway distributors (which brings in the Christian angle from Day One).

        I do know the Christian guys I hung out with back then (who were also pencil/paper/funny dice gamers) treated the whole P&G panic as ridiculous. At one party someone brought a roll of Betty Boop stickers with BB lounging on a similar “Man in the Moon” background that immediately got dubbed “Betty Boop, Procter, and Gamble”. If you dozed off as things went on into the night, someone would stick a BBP&G sticker on your forehead and right hand and freak out going “THE MARK!!!!!”

  3. The similarities are remarkable.

    It’s almost as similar as leftism in the US today is to Nazism. Both feature harsh intolerance of and hatred towards the outgroup; enthusiasm for violence (antifa are modern-day brown shirts); suppression of dissenting ideas; political corruption; gun control; extensive government intervention in the economy; no regard for civil liberties. The list doesn’t end there, I just stopped because it’s getting depressing.

    Fortunately, we seem to be on a good trajectory. More and more Americans seem to be rejecting the racism and violence of the left. We shall see what kind of “October Surprise” the Democrats manage to come up with; perhaps the next Supreme Court nominee will also be accused of running a drunken rape ring in high school.

    You’ll always have Nazis among you;
    Next time they wont be in brown shirts or boots,
    They’ll come speaking softly in three-piece suits;
    But you’ll always have Nazis among you…”
    — Donna Barr, Desert Peach: The Musical, closing aria

    And as long as you don’t speak Hochdeustch, salute from the shoulder, or hoist the Hakenkreuz, you’ll slip in right under the radar. Especially if you denounce those Germans over there. (After all, you’re not one of those Germans (who are all Nazis), so you can’t possibly be one yourself.)
