Secular Student Alliance Features Katherine Stewart on the Threat Religious Nationalism Poses to Democracy

At the recent Secular Student Alliance National Conference the event ended with Katherine Stewart talking about religious nationalism and the threat it poses to democracy. This is a good listen that is about an hour long that deals with her most recent book form this accomplished journalist.

Katherine Stewart is a well known journalist who has written about the evangelical culture wars. She has published in the Washington Post, been featured on NPR, and many other outlets. Here you can see the articles she wrote for the London Guardian. COVID-19 has led to the canceling of many conferences and events in person. What the Secular Student Alliance did was to move their recent national conference to a virtual platform. They closed out their conference with Katherine Stewart who discussed her recent book called, “The Power Worshipers.” Katherine’s book looks at Christian nationalism in the United States. This is her take on Christian nationalism and authoritarianism and where she thinks it is going.  This talk is about an hour if you are going to listen to it.
