Christ Community Church in the Kansas City, Missouri area and what they are doing to assist in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. This post has a question for Christ Community Church but this is also encouraging to see a church operate this way.
“He who serves the most, reaps the most.”
Jim Rohn
For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
Psalm 139: 13-14 NIV

This blog frequently looks at the problems of evangelicalism. Abuse, covering up child sex abuse, financial crime allegations and the dark side of fundamentalism. The problems of evangelicalism is enormous and way more than one blog can handle. Its also my contention that many evangelical churches grift in the communities they reside. For those reading this post if you are in shelter in place situation and need to pass the time go and read the Google reviews by people who live in a neighborhood who comment on how “Christians” react and respond to those in the neighborhood. The arrogance of evangelicalism is frequently on display.
This evening Christ Community Church, an EFCA Church in the Kansas City and Kansas area put out an update on how they are helping the community they are in. Its actually a refreshing read in light of the problems that keep this blog busy. Below you can see what Christ Community Church gave to their community and abroad. But I think the true test of Christ Community in some ways is how would they help someone who showed up that needed assistance? Someone not part of the family? If that person was living with their partner or gay how would Christ Community respond? This blog would be interested to find out. One final aspect if you want to read more about Global Reach this blog recently wrote about what a part of Global Reach is doing in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. You can read more in, “A Look at the EFCA’s ReachGlobal Crisis Response and and How the EFCA is Engaging in the COVID-19 Pandemic and Preparing Churches.”
