Recommended Read: Michael Spencer’s The Limbaughization of Evangelicals

This is an older classic post by Michael Spencer who was known as the Internet Monk. This post looks at the influence Rush Limbaugh and also President Obama on American Evangelicals. This is a brief post that is worth the read.

“In order to become the master, the politician poses as the servant.”

Charles De Gaulle

Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.

Ephesians 4:15 NIV

This will be a brief post. Credit on this goes to HUG. Thanks HUG for emailing this to me. This is on older post that Michael Spender who wrote the Internet Monk wrote years ago. Its about the politicization of the Gospel and how its is being effected by external movements. And in the same article who also talks about those who deify President Obama at the time. This is a good read about evangelicals and politics. You can read more in, “The Limbaughization of Evangelicals.”

  1. It’s good to remember that IMonk was definitely not afraid of taking on political issues in evangelicalism. Some commentators there lately seem to think that he never did.

  2. Eagle, remember how we were scratching our heads over why Christians became the most fanatical of Trump fanatics?

Take this article, let the Limbaughization simmer (or fester) for a couple decades of Us-or-Them Culture War, then present a focal point (or here-and-now Savior figure) for the Christians to rally around.
