What the EFCA’s North Central District of Minnesota Communicated About the COVID-19 Pandemic

The EFCA’s North Central District is in Minnesota. Brian Farone the district superintendent emailed out the following guidelines to all the churches within. This blog is documenting and preserving the North Central District’s reaction to COVID-19.

“Illness strikes men when they are exposed to change.”

Herodotus

We have spoken freely to you, Corinthians, and opened wide our hearts to you. 12 We are not withholding our affection from you, but you are withholding yours from us. 13 As a fair exchange—I speak as to my children—open wide your hearts also.

2 Corinthians 11:-13 NIV

This post is preserving and documenting how the EFCA’s North Central District is responding to the COVID-19 pandemic. On March 13, at 7:41 CST Brian Farone sent out the following email to his district. Again this blog hopes that people stay safe in this situation in all churches in Minnesota.

Brothers and Sisters of the NCD,

I am writing to share a brief word of encouragement and provide some initial guidance for our NCD family of churches.

First, please remember that our God is faithful, compassionate, powerful, and good. Moreover, the gospel of Jesus Christ and indwelling power of the Holy Spirit guard us in the midst of trouble and enable us to serve in times just like this.

Next, our NCD team recommends two primary sources of information for you.

At this time, we do not have specific recommendations regarding your corporate worship gatherings. We encourage each NCD congregation to consider their response in light of the most current information, the uniqueness of your specific ministry context, the makeup of your congregation (with special consideration given to those who are most at risk), and the community around your church. You can find more information at efca.org.

Finally, please reach out to anyone on our NCD team if you need perspective, personal support or additional guidance. We can help you think through specific questions, plan for how to care for your staff and continue discerning next steps. You can find a list of NCD staff members here.  We are always here to serve you in any way we can.

In Christ,

Brian Farone | District Superintendent| North Central District
