Vox had a solid article in 2019 that dealt with the topic of gaslighting. This brief post is just to add it to this blog’s archives. Its a good read that will teach you quite a bit.
“One of the first steps in freeing yourself from a gaslighting relationship, then, is to acknowledge how unpleasant and hurtful you find this Emotional Apocalypse. If you hate being yelled at, you have the right to insist that yelling not be a part of your disagreements. Maybe some other woman wouldn’t mind the loud voice, but you do. If that makes you sensitive, so be it. You have the right to set limits where you want them, not where some mythical other, “less sensitive” woman wants them.”
People may be pure in their own eyes, but the Lord examines their motives.

In writing about dark situations in evangelicalism there sometimes seems to be a common issue that occurs. That is the topic of gas-lighting. While I am not an expert on this topic I understand how crucial education can be to spot the issue and to better prevent it from occurring. There is a good article that Robin Stern wrote at Vox in January of 2019 that I discovered in my research. For those who see the dark side of religion I want to add this to the blog’s growing archives. You can read the article in, “I’ve counseled hundreds of victims of gaslighting. Here’s how to spot if you’re being gaslighted.”
