#CTisMyBitch: James MacDonald Parody Account of Mega Church Pastor on Twitter

A brief look at a parody account of James MacDonald on Twitter. He’s a punk, he’s a bully, he’s a thug. He’s Mega Church Pastor who mocks James MacDonald and Harvest Bible Chapel.

“Satire is a lesson, parody is a game.”

Vladimir Nabokov

“I’m parodied as being some right-wing fundamentalist extremist, it just isn’t true. The parody doesn’t reflect reality.”

Pat Robertson

A time to cry and a time to laugh. A time to grieve and a time to dance.

Ecclesiastes 3:4 NLT

James MacDonald

This afternoon I was on Twitter reading and seeing what Christianity Today is saying about Harvest Bible Chapel and James MacDonald. There is a favorite parody account on Twitter that I deeply enjoy following. Parodies are a way to express criticism and have fun in the process. What better way to drive a point home than to mock the leader or the situation? When Mars Hill was imploding in Seattle and Mark Driscoll was making problems for himself people also responded with parody. Some people would take a scene from a German movie called “Downfall” which was about the end of Adolf Hitler. They would be creative with it to drive some points home. You can see what some people did up above. In the scene Hitler rants about how Mars Hill is Mark Driscoll, and how Mark is correct about a pussified nation, and where is he going to get his sex advice if Driscoll leaves?

This afternoon on Twitter the parody account for James MacDonald was calling Christianity Today his bitch for their fluff coverage. The hashtag is #CTisMyBitch. In line with what Mega Church Pastor says on Twitter I have some questions for him that I would like to see answered.

  1. When MacDonald used a butter knife and stabbed a face as told in Julie Roys story was the butter knife “Gospel Centered?”
  2. Is there going to be an O.J. Simpson scene with the white bronco chase where MacDonald flees Elgin, Illinois and ends up in Naples, Florida?
  3. Will the writer of this blog also be used for target practice as well?
  4. What is the best was to feed your narcissism?

I inserted a number of Tweets from Mega Church pastor for you to look and at laugh. This is a parody account that I would like to see people follow and support. In a time of scandal with Harvest Bible Chapel this is an account that deserves a lot of attention. After all if #CTisMyBitch is going to be the hashtag for Mega Church Pastor then mine will be #MegaChrchPastorisMyBitch.

  1. I don’t think that this account is helping the cause. It is disturbing and will probably make people feel sorry for MacDonald. But maybe I’m wrong. Parody (political cartoons, Saturday Night Live, Colbert, etc.) can be useful but should be witty, not just vicious trolling. The ends don’t justify the means. The means should still be defensible.
