The Elephant’s Debt needs assistance as they deal with a lawsuit from James MacDonald and Harvest Bible Chapel. I hope the individuals reading this can contribute and help the authors of the blog that has exposed the issues inside MacDonald’s church network. Whether it be Christian or skeptic this is a blog that deserves our support.
“But even with the inspiration of others, it’s understandable that we sometimes think the world’s problems are so big that we can do little to help. On our own, we cannot end wars or wipe out injustice, but the cumulative impact of thousands of small acts of goodness can be bigger than we imagine.”
Queen Elizabeth II
“Somewhere along the way, we must learn that there is nothing greater than to do something for others.“
Martin Luther King
And I have been a constant example of how you can help those in need by working hard. You should remember the words of the Lord Jesus: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”
Acts 20:35 NLT
Theodore Roosevelt on criticism
This lawsuit from James MacDonald came as a surprise for me. In another post I want to examine the motivations of why this is happening now. But the purpose of this post is to draw attention to the financial needs of Ryan Mahoney and his wife as well as Scott Bryant and his wife. The authors of The Elephant’s Debt wrote a post about how people and former members have responded. You can read that post here. They also put out a call for financial support as they deal with the costs of a lawsuit. Lawsuits are expensive and any amount that can be given would be appreciated by the authors of The Elephant’s Debt.
If you are a Christian I hope you will support The Elephant’s Debt because you care about truth and are deeply troubled that an individual like James MacDonlad has the pulpit. People like James MacDonald are the individuals who should not have power. If you are an atheist, skeptic or secular humanist I also hope you will support The Elephant’s Debt. Here is why I say this…often times former church members process out of faith talking about how corrupt it is and how many people go along with it. In this situation that is not the case. You have people who are revealing the problems inside Harvest Bible Chapel and who are changing the narrative and the toxicity of this evangelical movement in Chicago. I hope you will support The Elephant’s Debt as they need help.
