Greg Boyd is well known for his views on open theism. First is a video by Greg teaching on the topic. Then there are two differing views on open theism from Dan Kent and Andrew Wilson.
“Map out your future – but do it in pencil. The road ahead is as long as you make it. Make it worth the trip.”
Jon Bon Jovi
The men turned away and went toward Sodom, but Abraham remained standing before the Lord.[d] 23 Then Abraham approached him and said: “Will you sweep away the righteous with the wicked? 24 What if there are fifty righteous people in the city? Will you really sweep it away and not spare[e] the place for the sake of the fifty righteous people in it?25 Far be it from you to do such a thing—to kill the righteous with the wicked, treating the righteous and the wicked alike. Far be it from you! Will not the Judge of all the earth do right?”
26 The Lord said, “If I find fifty righteous people in the city of Sodom, I will spare the whole place for their sake.”
27 Then Abraham spoke up again: “Now that I have been so bold as to speak to the Lord, though I am nothing but dust and ashes, 28 what if the number of the righteous is five less than fifty? Will you destroy the whole city for lack of five people?”
“If I find forty-five there,” he said, “I will not destroy it.”
Genesis 18:22-28 NIV and an example of open theism with God changing his mind.
Greg Boyd teaching on open theism.
This is going to be a brief post for today as I am working on a longer post for Wednesday. Greg Boyd’s clashes with John Piper have been well known and established. On of the core issues has been Greg Boyd’s belief in open theism. Its my understanding that John Piper tried to get Greg Boyd fired from Bethel Seminary. The main reason I believe is due to open theism. So I have a talk by Greg Boyd up above explaining open theism. But there was another article that was posted at Greg Boyd’s ReKnewed website. Written by Daniel Kent the article is called “15 Reasons Open Theism is True (a reply to Andrew Wilson)” That article is a response to Andrew Wilson’s “Responding to Open Theism in Fourteen Words.” I like open theism in the sense that it helps lessen the problem of evil which I wrote about in “How Reformed Theology/Neo-Calvinism Make the Problem of Evil Worse: John Piper, Adam Lanza and a Massacre in Connecticut.” That’s it for the day guys, know that I love you.
