Brent Detwiler on P.J. Smyth Misleading Covenant Life Church about Knowledge of John Smyth’s Alleged Abuse of Boys

Brent Detwiler wrote a well researched post that looks at how P.J. Smyth allegedly mislead Covenant Life Church on his knowledge of what John Smyth allegedly did when he abused boys. This is basically a brief post to highlight Brent’s article.

“There comes a time when deceit and defiance must be seen for what they are. At that point, a gathering danger must be directly confronted. At that point, we must show that beyond our resolutions is actual resolve.”

Dick Cheney

Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.

Deuteronomy 7:9 NIV

I want to give a shout out to Brent Detwiler who wrote a detailed post the other day which chronicled how P.J. Smyth allegedly mislead Covenant Life Church on the knowledge of his father John Smyth allegedly abusing boys. Just for your background I wrote a detailed post about that in, “An Overview of the Situation with John Smyth and the Disturbing Allegations of Abuse in the United Kingdom and Zimbabwe.” As usual Brent documented and detailed the situation with P.J. Smyth. You know what…I am coming to the conclusion that Covenant Life Church will be nothing more than an organization that will be known for allegations of child sex abuse, cover ups and criminal activity. From Sovereign Grace until today its pretty clear that things are not going to change much. But you can read Brent Detwiler’s post in “Lead Pastor P.J. Smyth Deceives Covenant Life Church About Knowledge of John Smyth’s Violent Beating of Boys.” That is it guys I want to publish this brief post and allow members and former members of Covenant Life Church to comment below.

  1. Wandering Eagle needs to land and settle into community. Those who are truly concerned for the health of Christ’s Church, join a local community, pull up their sleeves and get involved. Throwing stones from afar and engaging in gossip and slander is self indulgent and destructive. Further, vilifying a man (for the actions of his father) who, himself, has walked in integrity for years and given his life to serving the Church is deplorable.

  2. And the Defenders of the Faith Truth Squads start coming out of the woodwork shifting blame and counteraccusing. (In the LOORD’s Name, of course.)

Ever notice we NEVER hear from these guys until their god is Blasphemed? Then they come out of nowhere with their pious accusations.
