My Mom’s Medical Crisis Continues, The Next Few Days at The Wondering Eagle

Tomorrow morning I am flying out to Fresno, California for a few days to see my Mom. My Mom is still in a hospital dealing with vasculitis, low grade lymphoma, steroid induced diabetes, and more.

This will be a real short post to say that I may be slower in approving comments and editing. I am traveling to California to visit my Mom who is still in the Hospital. The medical crisis in my family has continued and its been hard to focus here in Washington, D.C. with all this going on. So I am going to fly home, pop up and surprise my Mom. She doesn’t know I am coming so this will be neat for her. My Dad and my sister are glad I am coming. Please be patient, and please be respectful of each other. I know I got up a post that will probably cause some debate. Treat each other with respect please. Other than that I would ask for your prayers or thought and wishes of good luck. Thanks guys and I love you!

    • Its been hard. She didn’t recognize me at first then she was angry I came. I think she might be in the early stages of dementia. She talked about dying and I tried to get her to change the topic. The other problem is that my sister and Dad are also ill, so I am playing care giver to them and helping them out. They are sleeping. I am resting for a bit, then I am heading back to the hospital. This has been hard.

Or she could also be overwhelmed by that one-two-three-punch of a diagnosis or feeling the meds in the wrong way. I know I wouldn’t be thinking all that straight in her situation.

Understandable for someone whose recently heard the word “cancer” or “-oma” from her doctor.

  1. Sorry your family hasn’t been doing well lately, Eagle. Been through the dementia / Parkinson’s thing with a family member (and also w/ my first host mom when I was studying abroad). Also lost my uncle to leukemia several years ago. It’s incidents like these that serve as reminders to me that God intended for so much better than this — that this life has been corrupted by the fall and needs redemption.

I can’t promise anything, Eagle. I can only check in with ya and hope that Christians are right about Jesus — that there is a better life out there next go-around thanks to Christ. Everything in this world seems to indicate that to me — even the evils that occur in church, because we know that the Lord never intended for that evil to occur in His Church. Thinking of you, Bro. I’m sure it’s hard right now. Praying you’ll get some rest and reprieve soon. = )
