Questions that Members of Community Evangelical Free Church in Elverson, Pennsylvania Should Ask at the Q&A on December 4, 2016 (Part 1)

The Wondering Eagle will be posting questions for members of Community Evangelical Free Church in Elverson, Pennsylvania. There is a Q&A that will take place on Sunday December 4, 2016. A transparent church under the leadership of Merle Stoltzfus, David Stoltzfus and Steve Estes need to be able to provide answers for the questions being asked in this post.

CEFC Under Construction

Several sources have notified this blog The Wondering Eagle of details that were  discussed in the “members only” November 14, 2016 business meeting at Community Evangelical Free Church (CEFC)  in Elverson, Pennsylvania. Members were informed that they will hold a Q&A for members only this coming Sunday evening December 4, 2016. Members were to submit their questions and concerns regarding the December 14, 2014 excommunication of Hurit Estes ahead of time, which seems a bit shady to me.  Why can’t members stand up and ask any question they want? This situation continues to reveal the lack of recusal from Steve Estes and his family members on the elder board. Steve Estes and the leadership is still trying to control and manipulate the narrative. The cover up of alleged crimes committed by Steve Estes’s son Brock Estes continues to haunt this congregation.

Members of CEFC and members of the community should be encouraged to ask the hard questions to the CEFC elders. The Wondering Eagle will post many questions to review the horrid details of this story over the next few nights. If people in the community or members of CEFC need truthful answers, you can find them here. You are not going to find truth from the leadership of CEFC. All of the following questions have been answered on this blog in various posts. CEFC members are encouraged to ask some of the following questions at the upcoming Q&A.

 

Hard Questions that CEFC Needs to Answer

  1. In October of 2013, a month after Hurit left, why did Steve Estes form a secret committee of women to help Hurit, but did not inform the elder board about his son’s marriage separation?
  2. Why was this committee formed without Hurit and her parents?
  3. Why was Hurit so devastated when she found out that her husband was having secret meetings with a group of women in the church to discuss their marriage problems?
  4. Did this cause her to lose trust with her husband and father-in-law, Steve Estes?
  5. Why did Steve Estes wait until January of 2014 to inform his elders?
  6. Once the elders were informed, why was Brock’s uncle, Dave Stoltzfus, allowed to continue as his shepherding elder until the excommunication?
  7. Why didn’t Steve Estes, and his brother-in-laws, Merle Stoltzfus and Dave Stoltzfus all recuse themselves from the beginning of the process? Why were they present in all the elder meetings and the trial?
  8. Why when concern was raised about the alleged involvement of a gun and the importance of getting the authorities involved were these concerns dismissed?
  9. Why did a police friend, Ryan Smith, allegedly remove the guns from Brock’s home?
  10. Why did Steve Estes want Hurit to come back to a marriage quietly when he knew of the alleged gun and alleged drunken rape?
  11. Why did neither the pastor, elders or other lay men and women not call the authorities right away when they were made aware that allegedly a loaded gun was pointed at someone?
  12. Did they break the law by knowing this information and not only “not” reporting it, but actually concealing it for almost a year until she made others aware by sending her letter to the congregation?

There will be more questions tomorrow night for members of Community Evangelical Free Church to ponder. These questions are to get people to think, and when the Q&A occurs four days from now, members should ask these questions. If the leadership of CEFC is going to be transparent than Merle Stoltzfus, Dave Stoltzfus and Steve Estes should be able to answer those questions. My parting thoughts are this…we need to remember that a female was almost allegedly killed. Hurit knows she could be dead due to allegations of domestic abuse. These are hard questions that need honest answers. It is still my belief that this is one of the most pressing issues in the Evangelical Free Church of America. Will a pastor be allowed to practice church discipline on an alleged rape victim who knows she could be dead? Take care guys and know that I love you!

    • Todd submitting questions ahead of time is how Sovereign Grace also operated correct? SGM used the questions that were submitted to control the narrative and dismiss the difficult ones if they got any. Plus they also used the questions that were submitted to see who was disloyal, “divisive” and more and the organization could then go after those people. Isn’t that how some people in SGM found themselves facing church discipline?

  2. Submit questions ahead of time? That’s a way to control the people for sure…not surprised but saddened that no matter what the church does they will never change. They have been given so many opportunities to “come clean” and do the right thing. Deeply saddened for the good people of the church. But my question? Why don’t they demand honesty or simply leave an untrustworthy church. Many many wonderful churches in area. No need for them to stay in this church. Sometimes I just don’t get it……

    • Jen, Steve Merle and Dave are still trying to control the narrative. That is the problem with all this still. After everything that has gone on they still are trying to control the narrative.

  3. If you still attend this church I pray you can see how the leaders have withheld information from you so that you will not be displeased with them and so you will stay. They need you because they need your money now more then ever. May you be set free by the Holy Spirit and find a health Church body where the leaders welcome accountability and the pastor, elders and members all Regularly share the Good News of Jesus with the lost around them. Where this is their their biggest life concern…not authority, not obedience and certainly not the building they meet in.   4. What goes around, comes around!!! The pain and agony these church leaders placed on a sweet young lady is now coming around to bite them so they can see how it feels to be rejected!!! Vengeance is mine saith the Lord.

    So that they can read them first, get together, and get their stories straight. Because any time a group of leaders are confronted by pointed questions, they’re likely to not get their stories straight, and begin to contradict one another.

    Here are the two questions I would want answered:
    1. There was reportedly a congregational meeting where they had a bag of rocks/stones, telling the congregation that anyone who has sinned should not be throwing stones at Brock…. while the leadership was dropping boulders on Hurit & ex-communicating her. So spousal abuse is okay & forgivable, but running from spousal abuse isn’t? How do they justify this course of action?

    2. Why did they have to submit our questions in writing ahead of time; why can’t an honest *conversation* take place?

  6. Other questions for leadership:

    1. How would they feel in knowing the church family prayed their soul over to the devil? Imagine the feeling of fear, anxiety and heartache. This fact in itself sickens me!

    2. Is it a possibility that following a flawed human beings theology/philosophy (John Calvin) could be incorect? Leaders continue to repeat they have done nothing wrong!! Perhaps when so many good people are hurting the leaders should examine the theology/philosophy lead them down this path.

    3.If this would have been one of their daughters would have the outcome been different?

    COME ON CONGREGATION!! IF YOU DON’T STAND AGAINST IT YOU ARE FOR IT! Please..Please get up and walk towards the door. Their are churches in the community that will not hold to such theology.
